BOARDS, SM FOLDER IN FILE SERVER AND WEBSITE.
5. Registration Parameters
(a) Students of 7th / semester B. Tech, 10th semester (Dual Degree students) and 1st / 3rd sem of
M.Tech would be allowed to register in the Elective Courses (as applicable) only after they
register themselves for the core courses in the following sequence;
(i) Firstly the backlog core courses, on offer, starting from the first semester. This may be in
the form of having an equivalence course (if it exists in the equivalence chart and is on offer)
or as one-on-one on case to case basis. Student must be very careful in this regard, and
register the course after approval of the departmental HOD.
(ii) Only thereafter, the student should be allowed to register the core subjects of the Odd
semester as per curricula issued.
(b) Further, the students will register for elective courses, starting with the back papers in the
electives (if the student wishes to take the same subjects and they are on offer). Otherwise, it
will be assumed that the student is not interested to repeat the backlog elective paper, and
wishes to replace the same with other electives on offer.
(c) Only after having exercised the above options that the students can choose the electives, to
complete the credits, that he / she wishes to take.
(d) Next course in order of priority shall automatically be allotted in case of dropping of any course by
the department because of any reason.
(e) No changes to pre-registered courses shall be allowed to students, unless necessitated
due to results of Odd Semester/ Supplementary Examination.
6. Important point to check
(a) Students must work out a plan to enable them complete the credit requirements of the
degree within the specified time. For this, the student may view the total credits obtained by
them and the credits in which he or she is currently registered (both data’s are provided in
respective kiosks). Further the student should carefully explore the options for doing the
backlog core courses which are not on offer in the remainder time and suggest the means to
the Counselor / HOD so that at the end of it the student should have done the core courses
and also achieved the credit requirements.
(b) Check your Enroll No., Name, Semester, Branch has been listed correctly. Check, if all
your backlog courses including Non-registered courses (if any) are listed correctly
along with applicable credits. Point out variation to Registrar or Deputy Registrar only
immediately for correction.
(c) Check if you have exercised/availed all options for completing the backlog / non registered
courses;
(i) Either the same ones (this generally is applicable for courses with new course codes).
(ii) or doing it as one-on-one basis (after approval from HOD and VC),
(iii) or those backlog courses which have equivalents as per the equivalence chart and, if
same are on offer. Therefore the student must check the equivalence chart as also the
curricula to see if the equivalence course is on offer, before registering for such
backlog course.
(d) The course codes are correctly filled-up.
(e) Kindly note that incase of backlog courses the student shall be awarded the course credits
equivalent to the credits of the old course. This is irrespective of the fact that student may
register for an equivalent course which has got higher / lower credits as per the latest
system. This must carefully be kept in mind while calculating the progress/additional credits
needed by the student.
