The city is described as having concentric walls and canals, and being home to an advanced civilization led by half-god, half-human beings. Atlantis was a self-sufficient, fertile region with beautiful architecture and a giant temple featuring a gold statue of Poseidon. However, the exact location and size of Atlantis remains a mystery.

Lost City of Atlantis

One of the Most Profound Mysteries


The Lost City of Atlantis or Atlantida, appears in books, films, tv shows and series, first
mentioned by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato more than 2,300 years ago, is known
as one of the oldest and greatest mysteries of the world. According to Plato, the utopian
island kingdom existed some 9,000 years before his time and mysteriously disappeared
one day.
People were fascinated by the existence of the city, who claimed to be a home of a very
advanced civilization. But if there was such a city was submerged in the sea or not, is
still a mystery.

Where is Atlantis – The Mysterious Location


The narrations suggested the so called Atlantis was a large island located near the Rock
of Gibraltar, between Europe and Asia, and consisted of a Poseidon temple and
concentric walls and canals but Plato added that the city under the sea should have
been somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

The unknown size of ‘the giant city’


However, in many stories after the Plato’s era, the Atlantis was described as a giant city,
missing anything specific about the size of the city. Edgar Cayce, an American Christian
mystic, suggested that the Atlantis and Eurasia were equal in size.

The ‘Captivation’ Palace


The new home built by Poseidon for his love in the City of Atlantis was surrounded by
rings of water and land, where a huge canal connected the outer rings of water to the
ocean. The tunnels were able to accommodate ships and every route to the city was
guarded by gates and towers.

The Golden Statue of Poseidon


It is believed they also built a huge temple for their father with a giant statue of Poseidon
riding a chariot carried by winged horses. The statue was completely built in gold, and
placed in a temple with its spiral roof so high up that the clouds drifted through the
spirals of the temple.

The self-sufficient and rich city


The fertile and beautiful city of Atlantis, where half god and half human beings lived, is
believed to have been a self-sufficient region where people grew their own food and
reared animals. They also built beautiful buildings and other architectures from
materials like black and red stone.

Atlantis’ extra-terrestrial connection


Despite being much taller and fairer than today’s average human being, the average life
span of these people is believed to have been 800 years, making them really robust and
strong prototype of existent human race then.
Exceptional powers of Atlanteans
the inhabitants of the Atlantis city believed to have the possessors of exceptional powers
such as the ability to control weather, modify volcanic eruptions. Some accounts also
mention about their possession of some sort of device that allowed them to channell
energy from time and space.

Atlantis has become an ambitious dream of geologists, historians and scientists because
the findings of this lost continent may be the answer to questions about the origin of
humanity, the antiquity of this civilization.
