ADAPT-Builder 2018 Release Notes

Feature Enhancements

This release of the program features major enhancements in productivity, scope, and accuracy.

The following is a summary of the principal enhancements:

Building Design Codes Australian AS3600-2009 and Hong Kong CoP 2013

New Program ADAPT-Builder 2018 has been completely overhauled with an


User Interface updated program user interface (UI) for improving the user
experience and offering an easy-to-use, efficient and intuitive
program environment. The UI is now ribbon based containing
contextualized ribbons including general categories like visibility,
modeling, analysis, design and reporting. Each ribbon contains
ribbon-specific tool panels with updated, refreshed icons. New
summarized and extended tool tips have been included for each
tool and tool panel.

The program has a new simplified and condensed splash screen


New Splash Screen with an expandable selection window. The splash screen shows the
current program state.

The program now auto-filters the available tools that apply to the
Auto-Filter for splash screen selections made by the user prior to entering the UI.
Program States Only ribbons, panels and tools applicable to the state will be shown
to streamline usage. Ribbons, panels and tools not applicable to the
current modeling, meshing, analysis, design or level state will be
grayed out and inactive.

Wall Openings Walls can now be modeled with openings in a simple-to-use input
window embedded in the wall properties. The user enters the
opening start coordinates and the length and width of the wall
opening. Multiple wall openings can be added to walls.

Advanced Meshing Meshing options have been consolidated and new options are
Options available for applying an advanced meshing algorithm for meshing
of walls with or without openings. The simplified meshing option is
similar to previous versions and will disregard wall openings by
default.

Dramix® Steel Fiber Bekaert’s Dramix® steel fibers can be modeled as part of a defined
Modeling and Design concrete material property. Multiple fiber types are available with
dosage ranges for selection. Steel fibers can be applied to slabs-
on-grade, mat slabs, slabs-on-piles and elevated slabs and are
considered for calculation of minimum reinforcement, one- and two-
way shear and flexure.

Non-Linear Design For slabs-on-grade, mat slabs and slabs-on-piles with Dramix®
steel fiber, the selection for non-linear behavior can be used for
consideration of post-elastic capacity for flexural behavior.

Slab-on-Grade For slab-on-grade designs with Dramix® steel fiber, the program
Joint Spacing and calculates joint spacing requirements and load transfer factors
Load Transfer across joints for edge and corner zones of a slab panel.

New 2018 and 2019 New ADAPT-Revit 2019 and updated ADAPT-Revit 2018
Revit Integration Link Integration Links were created for compatibility between ADAPT-
Builder 2019 and Revit 2018. Features included are:
• Import geometry to ADAPT
• Import applied loads to ADAPT
• Import load combinations to ADAPT
• Export geometry and gravity loads to Revit
• Export reinforcement and post-tensioning to Revit

Bug Fixes

This release includes corrected bugs and improvements over version 2017. A detailed description
is provided in the log file, LOG_Builder.txt, in C:\Program Files (x86)\ADAPT\ADAPT-Builder 2018.

Minimum System Requirements

64bit PC - Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10

Available hard disk space of 500 MB minimum


Memory – 4 GB RAM or greater

Processor speed – Single- or Multi-Core Intel processor or AMD equivalent. Highest attainable CPU
speed rating is recommended.

Compatibility with Other ADAPT Products

Backwards compatible through save as function to Builder v2012. Compatible with ADAPT-PTRC
v2017 and v2018 through use of the design strip export tools.
