SRTT
SRTT
Technology Standard Addressed: 3: Knowledge Constructor- evaluate the accuracy, perspective, credibility
and relevance of information, media, data or other resources.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. Prior to this activity we will have done our lesson on American symbols, including a BrainPop
video and other background information on symbols such as the American Flag, the White House, etc. I will
introduce this activity by handing out iPads and explaining that we are playing a fun game called Kahoot!
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: Questions will be displayed on a large screen
in the front of the room. Students will each join the Kahoot! using the code given to them on their iPads. Each
question will be displayed and students much choose their answer on their devices. Points are given to the
correct answers, and extra points are given for speed. There is a leaderboard to motive students to try to
answer the questions correctly and quickly. Each correct answer will be shown after the screen after wach
question, and the questions are timed.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10): Kahoot!
Link is attached on website page.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the SRT activity students will be given a short quiz
on the topic of famous American symbols. The Kahoot! was used as a fun review before taking the quiz to
engage students.
How will the data be used? As a result of this activity I will know where each student is regarding the
American symbols, and which ones require extra help. Additionally, the top 3 students on the scoreboard may
receive an incentive such as a prize (a sticker, or candy). I wil not be sending the results of the Kahoot! to
parents. I will provide students who appear to need additional help, the additional help they require with
one-on-one practice.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope to successfully administer the Kahoot! and I
hope students learn from the activity. My goal is for every student to have a fun time while trying their best
to correctly answer each question.
Reflective Practice: I hope this activity made it more exciting and easier for the students to learn about the
meaning of our symbols, and what they are. Maybe when they go home that day they will tell their families
about what they learned, and apply it outside of the classroom. To further extend this lesson, we could go
deeper into American social studies. Geographically, where is the white house? We could go deeper into the
presidents, and their significance. As for Kahoot! I don’t think any other technology is necessary other than a
projector screen, and form of mobile device. However, there are so many other types of technology that can
be incorporated into the classroom!
