Numbers upto one billion 1.1.1. Read numbers upto 1,000,000,000 (one billion) in numerals and in words. In international place value system commas are placed after every three digits from the right. We have already learnt the concept of one hundred million i.e., 100,000,000 in class 4. Now, we move one step ahead and learn the concept of ‘One billion’, We know that: The smallest 9-digit number is: = 100,000,000 One hundred million The greatest 9-digit number is: = 999,999,999 Nine hundred ninety nine million nine hundred ninety nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine When we add ‘1’ in the greatest 9-digit number, we get ‘One billion’ ie., 999,999,999 + 1 = 1,000,000,000.
