SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The MGE Galaxy 5000 is an on line (double conversion) solid state uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
system, rated at 100 kVA.
This series of tests results are for the UPS Module connected as an N system.
IMPORTANT
− All the measurements and records will be achieved as stated in the procedure attached
hereafter.
Procedure 1. All personnel attending this SAT must be identified including vendor personnel.
2. Print name, department / organisation
3. Record signature, initials and date.
4. SAT Lead responsible to ensure that as a minimum all personnel, who have
recorded information during the SAT, have recorded their name on the Signature
Identification Log.

UPS System – 3 x Galaxy 5000 100kVA Configured as N+1
UPS System Ref: Southern OPS Building
Objective: Demonstrate the operation of the UPS system voltage regulation on a balanced load
Procedure: A test is carried out with all three phases loaded at 100% of system load i.e. 160kW
The following are measured at a common output point within the installation:
• UPS Output Voltages phase to phase, and the three phase and neutral currents
Results: All OK

Objective: To demonstrate that the UPS system can be commanded to a transferred state by shutting
down UPS units in turn and then reversing the procedure to bring the UPS units back on-line.
Procedure: The operator will shut down UPS units in turn demonstrating the transfer process and the
N+1 operation of the system.
Acceptance Criteria: Information correctly represented on client’s BMS System / UPS’s displays
Results: All OK

The following results show the transfer of the 100% system load from Inverters to Mains 2(Static-
Switches) and back to Inverters with voltage stabilization for the load.
Objective: Demonstrate the correct operation of the UPS in case of loss and return Of AC mains i.e.
UPS switches to battery in case of loss of mains and back to normal operation upon return of mains.
Procedure: The UPS module runs normally with load. The input switches Q1 or the Mains 1 supplies to
each UPS are switched OFF to represent a mains failure. The load voltage, load current on phases L1,
L2 + L3 at the output of the UPS system are recorded. A loadbank will be connected to simulate full
system load: 200Kva @ 0.8pf.
The system will then run on battery for 30 minutes and the end voltage recorded. The system will then
be re-charged for 3 hours and the system will then be run on battery for 24 minutes and the end voltage
recorded.
Results: All OK

Objective: To demonstrate that the UPS system can re-start on the return of AC mains power.
Operation procedures should include all necessary safety steps which will require operator management
of the process.
Procedure: At the end of battery test 2, allow the system to shut down on low DC voltage. Then restore
AC mains and allow the system to re-charge to minimum level and then return to on-line operation with
appropriate operator intervention.
Acceptance Criteria: System re-starts. Information correctly represented on client’s BMS System.
Results: All OK
Comments: After two hours the BCB will trip to prevent deep discharge. This will need to be closed if
necessary.
