CT Calculation

This document summarizes the calculation of CT parameters for a busbar protection system. It provides the short circuit current, CT ratio, secondary circuit impedances, and device data. It then calculates the required CT kneepoint voltage and saturation time. The calculation shows the selected CT with a 1600:1 ratio and 800V kneepoint voltage meets the requirements for the protection system with an estimated saturation time of 9.97ms.

Calculation
A Kneepoint Requirement
The required Kneepoint Voltage of CT is calculated as following
𝑉𝑘𝑟 = 𝐾𝑡𝑓 𝑥𝐼𝑓 𝑥 (𝑅𝑐𝑡 + 𝑅𝐿 + 𝑅𝑑 )
Where :
Ktf is CT overdimensioning factor for UR B30 ver 7.xx : 3
If is fsecondary fault current 𝐼𝑠𝑐 : 25 A
𝐼𝑓 =
𝐾
Vkr : 739.5

The required kneepoint voltage is less than kneepoint voltage of CT

739.5 < 800

B CT Requirement
The Required Saturation Time (Tsat) is calculated as following

Where :
Tsat can be determined using "CT Saturation Time Estimator", shown in Fig. 1
from http://www.gegridsolutions.com/app/ViewFiles.aspx?prod=b90&type=9
Tsat : 9.97 ms

Conclusion
CT Ratio : 1600/1
CT Class : PX
Kneepoint Voltage : 800
