- The teacher will describe the relationship between the main idea and supporting details
by providing examples and tools to find them.
- The teacher will tell students they will be practicing finding the main idea and supporting
details by reading a nonfiction book called “Balloons over Broadway”.
- The teacher will read “Balloons over Broadway with students and pause at important
moments to talk about key details.
- The teacher will review the main idea and supporting details of the book “Balloons Over
Broadway” with the students.
- The teacher will introduce the graphic organizer to the students.
- The teacher will give the students 5 minutes to complete graphic organizer.
- The teacher will have students share their responses.
- The teacher will administrate a brief 5-minute exit ticket.
- The teacher will close lesson by repeating “I Can” statement.
