Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs was born in 1955 in San Francisco and placed for adoption. He dropped out of college but co-founded Apple Computer with Steve Wozniak in 1976. Early Life

❖ Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco,


California.
❖ He was placed for adoption and was 27 when he found out
about his biological parents.

❖ As a kid he was very smart but hated studying so teachers
had to persuade him to study.
❖ School directors wanted him to skip to high school
because he tested so well but his parents said no.
College Life
❖ graduated from high school in 1972
❖ attended Reed College in Oregon

❖ Jobs dropped out of college after 1 semester to go to India
to study old religions in 1974.
❖ In 1976 he and wozniak made a computer company called
apple.

Early company History: Pre-Apple
Before they started making computers Steve Wozniak designed the game, Pong.
He had Jobs take it down to Atari and they thought that Jobs made the game so
they gave him a job as a technician. He then left for a while then came back and he
was assigned to create a circuit board for Breakout. Later, Wozniak designed a
low cost “blue box” to generate necessary tones to manipulate the telephone
network, allowing free long distance calls, and perhaps that's what planted the
seed in Steve's mind that electronics could be both fun and profitable. Jobs said
“that if not for the blue boxes, there would have been no Apple.”
Later Company History
❖ 1996-NeXT is bought by Apple

❖ 1997-Jobs returns to Apple

❖ May 1998- The iMac is unveiled

❖ October 2003- iTunes is announced
