Bachelors of Technology In Mechanical

Technology
A Bachelor of Technology commonly abbreviated as B.Tech. or B.Tech(Hons.) is an
undergraduate Academic degree conferred after completions Four years having 8 semesters
with 136 credit hours. First 6 semesters are of studying Scenario and last two semester are with
major project and Internships. B.Tech is considered as to be a skill-oriented course. This degree
is Recognized by HEC(Higher Education Commission) . B.Tech program was formally launched
in 1973.

In Pakistan status of B.Tech Degree is still undefined. Degree holders are called Engineering
Technologists. The accrediting body of engineering technology degree is National Technology
Council (Pakistan)(NTC) which is responsible for registration of engineering technologists. Over
10,000 per year are graduated with this degree. B.Tech Graduates are suffering for 35 year due
to undefined status. So Pakistan Engineering Council recommended to establish Pakistan
Technology Council. Only few private organizations and government departments were
acknowledging the status of B.Tech Graduates, giving them jobs. As PEC had refused to register
technologists .Ministry of Education Directed to give status of B.Tech(Hons) degree at par with
B.Sc/B.Engg Degree. The Technologists holding B.Tech qualifications have filed several cases in
courts and got 17 decisions in their favour, declaring their degree equivalent to B.Sc/B.E but no
decision could not be implemented so far.

Now a days in Pakistan industry is not growing because of lack of technology and technologists.
A country could not be developed without industry. If a country has to export different product
it can be very expensive but when they have to produce in their own country its cost will be the
1/4 of the imported products. But Unfortunately we haven't made and process to develop our
industry.

After the Graduation with B.Tech(Hons.) Degree a man Has many opportunities like he/she can
start his own business, work for industry etc. Technologist in industry works on product
development, manufacturing, technology operation and maintenance. They may be manager,
depending on the technical experience and educational emphasis on management. In general
the engineering technologists focuses more often on practical applications of engineered
Products and possesses for range of purposes.

Engineering Technologists assists an engineer in his works. A technologist with good technical
level can stand with Engineer because a technologist study the same course as the engineer
have studied but there are some courses a engineer study more than a technologist.
