letter/email more efficiently.

items around the classroom.
 The teacher can use this tool for when there is a parent teacher-
conference, for better communication skills.
 The parent can also use this tool to help their child with their
homework, etc.
 The other students in the classroom can use this tool to help their
communication with the foreign-speaking classmate is in a group
with their peers.

Positives and Positives:

challenges of  Forvo is completely free, so the students/teachers/parents do not
using the tool need to purchase anything prior. The website has many languages
that are very common, to not common at all. So there should not be
an issue with having a certain language listed that is needed.
 The Forvo tool helps the students, parents and teachers communicate
verbally more efficiently. There may be a language barer between all
parties involved, and this tool helps with the restrictions involved.

 Forvo is great when the student is struggling with classwork or

homework. The student can have easy access at home or in the
classroom (assuming there is always a laptop near by the student).
 This type of tool is helpful when the teacher needs to create a note
home or an email for the parent(s). the teacher can use Forvo to
translate the whole note or email so the parent(s) can fully
understand what kind of help the teacher needs regarding the
student.
 The teacher does not need to understand another language fully if
they’re using the Forvo tool. For example, if the teacher has no
understanding beyond greetings in French, but there is a French
speaking student in class, Forvo can help extend the understanding
between the student and the teacher.

Negatives:
 The challenges Forvo may present is the very slim change there is a
certain dialect of Spanish, for example, that the tool website does not
include. This could create a sense of miscommunication on certain
words, regarding a certain Spanish dialect.
 Another challenge with using the Forvo tool is if the family cannot
use the tool at home for homework. If the family is not finically
stable enough to have access to internet, this may cause an issue. If
the family does not believe in having a computer in their household,
this could cause an issue also with using Forvo.
 The last challenge with Forvo is the school the student is attending
does not have a computer desktop or laptop provided in the
classroom. Some schools are advanced to have a laptop available for
each student. Whereas some schools may not have the financial
stability to provide any laptop/desktops in the classrooms, except for
the library for example. If there is a library computer, the student can
access it would become difficult for the student to keep up with the
classwork because they cannot sit in the classroom and the library at
the same time.

Challenges:
A challenge with the tool is regulating the posts and keeping it positive and
professional.
Another disadvantage is that I am concerned that it could be an outlet for
complaints or bullying.
Also a disadvantage is that there is some misinformation among the tool
usage.
The last challenge the tool presents is there may not be internet access or
phone access available for the students and parents.

Brief instructions The teacher will create an account, he or she will give a student a link and

tool class and assignments created by this teacher or other teachers. It will allow
you to choose if you are a student or teacher but based on grade levels/age
may need parental guidance. They can access this website on a smartphone,
laptop, desktop, iPad, etc. The best part about this is the website is
completely free to all users. Once the student is registered and has followed
the link to their specific class, they will have complete access to all quizzes,
tests, and other assignments assigned to them. The teacher can create their
own personalized quizzes or use resources that other educators have come
up with. After they’ve done so, they can give it to that specific class. The
next step they come across are the game settings, which are simple yes or no
questions or amounts of certain things. In this step you can choose whether
you want to use sounds or not use them, randomize question order, number
of questions, use the timer, show question feedback, show correct answer,
show your work and mastery mode (helps strengthen learning for everyone).
Once all of those have been completed, the teacher continues to the next

step, which allows teachers to choose if they play it in class or will use it as
a homework assignment. They can also choose the time it assigned and for
time they permit. There is an advanced option, and this just gives educators
the choice to decide if they want to give students unlimited tries. After all
the background information and settings have been decided they allow
students to have the chance for follow up activities for students who score
less than 50%, between 50% and 80% and more than 80%. When that has
been completed (optional), the assignment is submitted to the class.

for young students is very exciting.

 Parents can see the progress their child makes and could increase a
child’s test results 8-10%.
 Students still must type in some answers, which is good because it
still makes students must study instead of just looking at it as a
“game” per say

Negatives:
 The students can’t see how they are scoring against their peers
 It is very case sensitive/must have the exact answer. I had tried the
assignment out to see how students would see it from their side and
the one question asked, “I have towns but no houses, lakes but no
water, forests but no trees, and mountains but no rocks. I am a…”

My answer was “A map” and it showed as incorrect and when the
correct answer came up it stated “Map”, so that is one thing that I
think could be improved.
 The anagrams were also hard to use, it was as if once you clicked an
answer, you couldn’t change it, which didn’t seem fair.
 When you go to the website, you can see all of your classmates
names and you could click on any one you wanted, if you really
wanted to, so I think either something could be created for the
teacher so that each student has their own set password so they aren’t
able to touch one another’s work or progress.
 The last challenge is if the student doesn’t have access to internet at
home or at school.
 Not all students have computers at home or access to a computer.
