Bell Computers: 1 - 99 350 100 - 199 325 200 Above 300 S 120 D 400 12

Bell Computers is analyzing optimal order quantities for computer chips. They receive quantity discounts for orders of 100 or more chips at prices of $325 and $300 respectively. The optimal order quantity formula is used to calculate order quantities of 181 chips, 188 chips, and 196 chips but 196 is not feasible to receive the $300 price. The lowest total cost is achieved with an order of 200 chips or more to receive the $300 price per chip.

Recommendation:
It is not feasible for Bell Computers to order 196 chips as computed above and get a
discount of $50 (i.e price of $300). Therefore, for Bells to achieve the discount, it needs to
order 200 chips or more at a time. Therefore, the order quantity that gives Bell Computers
the lowest inventory cost is 200 chips or more at a discount of $50 per chip
