The lesson plan summarizes a lesson on the digestive system. It outlines objectives to identify digestive system parts and functions, and locate parts. Materials include a projector, laptop, and pictures. Procedures include a review, motivation game with puzzle pictures, lesson on the digestive system process and organs, and an identification activity. Students will discuss the digestive system flow in groups and answer assessment questions to demonstrate understanding.

SCHOOL YEAR: 2019- 2020

LESSON PLAN IN

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:

a. Identify the parts and function of Digestive System

b. Study the importance of Digestive System
c. Locate the parts of the Digestive System

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic: Digestive System
Time Allotment: 60 minutes
Materials: Projector, Laptop, Flash Card, Picture of Digestive System
Resources: Science & Tech. II e-Biology pp. 159-164

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHERS’ ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ‘ACTIVITY

1. Prayer
Class, let us Pray first …. (One of the students will lead the Prayer)

2. Checking of attendance
All present sir.
May we hear the class monitor’s report of
attendance checking, are there absences in
class?

3. Review of the lesson

Before we proceed to our new topic let

us recall first, what we discussed last
time? What are the five stages of Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and
Mitosis? Telophase Sir.

I have some pictures here and tell me if Yes Sir.

what phase does the following occur.

Anaphase
Metaphase

B. Motivation

Teacher Students

Ok. Class, and now let’s have a game entitled

“Puzzle Game”.

I have here three envelopes. Each envelope has a

picture inside. I will call one representative for
each group to solve the puzzle.

Group 1 what is in the picture? It is a mouth.

Group 2 what is in the picture? It is a stomach.

And Group 3 what is in the picture? It is an intestine.

What is your idea about the picture that you come Digestive System
up with?

C. Lesson Proper:

Teacher Students

1.Analysis

 Do you have any knowledge about the It breaks down food sir.
Digestive System?

 Digestive system takes food into the

body. Who can explain which means…? The system responsible for food after we eat is
Digestive System.
 It breaks down food into bits, small
enough to pass through the cell membrane

 What do you call the process of breaking

down foods? *Digestion

 After that process the food is now put into

the blood.

 Do you have any idea on the different

parts of Digestive System?

 Can you give one Redly?

*mouth
*esophagus
*small and large intestine

*And now let’s follow the food as it passes the

digestive system.

First food enters the mouth where it is chewed by

our teeth, wets by our saliva a fluid produced by
salivary gland that contains PTYALIN an enzyme
that speeds up break down of starch into sugar.

From the mouth food pass through the

ESOPHAGUS which transact food from the
mouth to the stomach by a movement called
PERISTALSIS.

*From the esophagus food enters to the

STOMACH through a ring shaped muscle called
CARDIAC sphincter. Peristalsis mixed food with
gastric juices that will result in the churned semi
liquid called CHYME. The chyme leaves the
stomach through pyloric sphincter and enters
SMALL INTESTINE. The small intestine signal
the pancreas to produce pancreatic juices and gall
bladder to release bile.

*Pancreatic juices aids in digestion of protein,

carbohydrates and fats. Bile is produced in the
liver and stored in the GALL BLADDER.
It break down fats into smaller droplets.

What organ produces bile? *liver

How about the one that stores bile? *gall bladder

After digestion absorption will take place.

What are the substance that was absorbed by

small intestine? *Nutrients

Small intestines the remains of the digestion and

absorption are now enter the LARGE
INTESTINE where absorption of water occurs.
The remains after water has been absorbed are
now called STOOL or FECES then it will be
stored in the rectum then excrete to the anus.

D. Activity

Teacher Students

Ok class let’s have another game. Yes Sir.

Class, I will describe the different functions of

some organs and you will identify if what organ
is being describe, you will answer by group by
choosing it in a given cards. If you know the
function just raise your card.
#1 The food begins its journey through the #1.Mouth
digestive system. What it is?
#2. It is a muscular tube connecting the pharynx #2 Esophagus
to the stomach that is part of the upper
gastrointestinal tract. What is it?
#3. It is a muscular sac that is located on the left #3. Stomach
side of the abdominal cavity, just inferior to the
diaphragm.What is it?
#4. It is a small, pear-shaped organ located just #4. Gall Bladder
posterior to the liver. What is it?
#5. It is a long, thick tube about 2.5 inches in #5. Long Intestine
diameter and about 5 feet long. What it is?

E. Application

Teacher Students

A. Generalization

Form your group again…

 Study the picture or puzzle that you’ve Students will proceed to their group…
solve earlier.
 Trace the flow of food in the Digestive
System and give its importance then Discuss the process with their group mates
discuss it in front.
 The leader will be the one to discuss. Present the flow of Digestive System in front

B. Valuing

Do you think that our digestive system has a great

impact on our health?
Explain.

F. Assessment

Teacher Students
Get ¼ sheet of your paper and answer the
following questions that shown in a PowerPoint
Presentation.
Identification: Identify the following question. Write your answer on the ¼ sheet of pad paper.
1. It is the enzyme that is present in our saliva.
2. It produces the bile.
3. It stores the bile.
4. It is the remains of Digestion after absorption of water.
5. It is the absorption of water takes place.
6. It signals the pancreas to produce pancreatic juices and gall bladder to release
bile.
7.It breaks down food into bits, small enough to pass through the cell membrane
8. It break down fats into smaller droplets.
9. It takes food into the body.
10. It is an enzyme that speeds up break down of starch into sugar.
G. Abstraction:

REFLECT ANALYZE AND REALIZE: Using the Microsoft Word, answer the following
question and print it in a long coupon bond.
DIRECTION: In your own opinion, using the FLOWER CHART: REFLECT the functions of
each organs that belongs to digestive system, ANALYZE how the food metabolize and REALIZE how
important Digestive System in our body.
