A. Recent work: Checking homework

• Speaking: similarities/differences, justifying opinion on different ideas connected to


leadership and cultural agenda

B. Objectives:
• To promote a discussion based on the topic;
• To assign homework;
• To create interest in the topic;
• To confirm expectations;
• To study relevant issue (words, structures etc.);
• To have the students do some grammar exercises;
• To create discussion;

C. Contents:

Stage 1: estimated time: 5'


ACTIVITY/ CLASS ORGANISATION: homework checking; warm up activity
The teacher will list the objectives and will check the homework.
AIDS: English book, whiteboard, notebooks
LANGUAGE: All and any;
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS: The students may have some problems with the pronunciation of
some words. The teacher will be prepared to promt if necessary or ask the other ss to
correct the possible errors.

Stage 2: estimated time: 10'


CONTEXT:Speaking;
ACTIVITY/ CLASS ORGANISATION: This is a pair-work activity. Teacher tells the ss about
Words expected on the text. The teacher presents the ss the flashcards and explains the task.
The ss have to pair the word with the definition of it.

LANGUAGE: All and any


POSSIBLE PROBLEMS: None.

Stage 3: estimated time: 5'


CONTEXT: exercise sentence related;
ACTIVITY/ CLASS ORGANISATION: This is a pair-work activity. The ss are asked to find the word in te text and give his ow
sentence using that word.
Ss name themselves to answer.
AIDS: whiteboard, notebooks, handouts.
LANGUAGE: All and any;
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS: none

Stage 4: estimated time:20'


CONTEXT: you can make me do it but you can’t make me like it;
ACTIVITY/ CLASS ORGANISATION: This is a group-work activity. The ss are asked to work together and

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS: There may be some problems with some new words. The teacher prompts
whenever it is necessary.

Stage 5: estimated time: 10'


CONTEXT: homework, marking ss;
ACTIVITY/ CLASS ORGANISATION: The teacher will explain the assignment. Ss are told to do
as a homewor ex. 4 on the handouts. The team that has lost has an extra exercise ex. 3 on the same
handout.
AIDS: whiteboard, notebooks.
LANGUAGE: All and any;
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS: None.
