Exercise Conditionals
Exercise Conditionals
You are going to learn about conditional. The conditional is the way we speak about facts, possibilities or probabilities. So, is important to say
that we use conditionals to show that something is true only when something else is true. It is a great opportunity to let your imagination fly.
Let´s do it.
OBJECTIVE
Students will be able to distinguish between all types of conditional sentences in order to use them when they read, listen, write and speak in
English.

Reading
1.You are going to read a text about an 85 year-old woman talking about her life.
a. Circle the words you might find in the text.
relax trips dare regret pastime earlier car trouble thermometer safety climb book dance cry
2 Read the text and try to find definitions for the following words.
3 Discuss
a. Why do you think the author would dare make more mistakes next time? Find evidences on the text.
b. How does the author describe herself?
c. Do you think you would regret so many things if you were her age? Why /not?
If I had to live my life all over again, I’d dare make more mistakes next time. I would relax. I would limber up. I would
be sillier than I have been this trip. I would take fewer things seriously. I would take more chances.
I would take more trips. I would climb more mountains, swim more rivers. I would eat more ice cream and fewer beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I would have fewer imaginary ones.
You see – I’m one of those people who live seriously and sanely hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I have my moments. And if I had
to do it over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d try to have nothing else, just moments one after another, instead of living so
many years ahead of each day.
I’ve been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute. If I
had to do it over again, I would travel lighter than I have. If I had to live my life over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and
stay that way later in autumn.
I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.
