Making Snowflakes
Materials: square piece of paper, scissors, a pencil
Instructions:
Fold the paper in half to form a triangle. Fold it in half again to form a smaller triangle.
Hold the triangle so the point is at the bottom and the longest side on top.
Starting 1/3 of the way in from the left side of the top of the triangle, draw a line that extends down to the point
at the bottom. Do the same thing, starting 1/3 of the way in from the right side of the triangle. Your big triangle
should now have 3 smaller triangles drawn inside of it.
Fold the right triangle so its right edge lines up with the right side of the left triangle.
Fold the left triangle in back of the right triangle, so that its left edge touches the right edge of the right triangle.
You now have three triangles on top of each other with two points on the top.
Cut off the points at the top of the paper so that you have a triangle with a flat bottom. Cut any design you want
into the long sides of the triangle.
Finally, open it up and there’s your snowflake!

Mr. Ferdy is my next-door neighbor. He is of medium-height and thin. He is sixty years old and still
energetic. Together with his wife, he usually walks around the village early in the morning.
Mr. Ferdy has retired from his job. Once he worked as an army. Now, he often spends his time in his
garden. He has a large garden at the back of his house and grows many plants there. Among them are fruit
trees. When the trees bear fruits, he usually shares his neighbor.
Mr. Ferdy likes kids. He treats me like his own granddaughter who lives abroad. On holiday he often
invites me to have a chat and pick fruits in his garden.
One cold stormy day a goatherd drove his goats for shelter into a cave, where a number of wild goats had also
found their way. The shepherd wanted to make the wild goats part of his flock; so he fed them well. But to his own flock,
he gave just enough food to keep them alive. When the weather cleared and the shepherd led the goats out to feed, the
wild goats scampered off to the hills.
“Is that the gratitude I get for feeding you and treating you so well?” complained the shepherd.
“Do not expect us to join your flock,” replied one of the wild goats. “We know how you would treat us later on if
some strangers should come as we did.”

On Monday morning, Vira woke up late. She had a new smartphone and had a chat with her e-friends until
late. Consequently, she woke up late the next morning. She didn’t hear her alarm clock ring.
Vira had a shower hurriedly. Her parents had left to work, so nobody reminded her to have breakfast.
Soon after locking her house, Vira rode her bicycle at high speed. Fortunately, she didn’t arrive late at school.
She parked her bicycle, then she walked along the corridor in rush. While walking, almost all students
looked at her. A few students smiled and even laughed at her. However, she didn’t care and kept walking.
Entering the classroom, she stumbled and almost fell. She looked down and realized that she wore a pair
of slippers, not shoes.
Once there lived a giraffe. It was the tallest giraffe that anyone had ever seen. It was very proud of its height. The
monkeys were very annoyed with the giraffe’s behavior. One young monkey thought to teach the giraffe a lesson.
One day it said to the giraffe. “There’s lovely juicy fruit growing on that tree, but you wouldn’t be able to reach
it.”
The giraffe said arrogantly. “It is impossible? Just watch me!”
Then, the giraffe reared up its long neck and put out the tongue, but the fruit was just out to reach.
“I said you couldn’t reach it,” said the monkey. “But I can.”
Suddenly, the monkey jumped on to the giraffe’s back and scramble up its neck. Then, it stretched out its long
arm and picked the fruit. The monkey said, “We could not do it alone, but we can do it together.”
After that, the tallest giraffe didn’t boast anymore, and it became best friend of monkey.
