A natural hazard is a naturally occurring event that can negatively impact people or the environment. Natural hazards fall into two categories: geophysical, which include earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and cyclonic storms, and biological, like disease. Natural hazards often result from a combination of geological, hydrological, and climatic factors and can lead to disasters when they seriously disrupt a community. Disasters are sudden events that disrupt normal functioning of a society.

NATURAL HAZARD

A natural hazard is a naturally occurring event that might have a

negative effect on people or the environment. Natural hazard events
can be grouped into two broad categories. Geophysical hazards
encompass geological and meteorological phenomena such
as earthquakes, coastal erosion, volcanic eruption, cyclonic storms,
and drought. Biological hazards can refer to a diverse array of disease
and infestation. Other natural hazards such as floods and wildfires can
result from a combination of geological, hydrological, and climatic
factors.
Natural Hazard is a part of DISASTER.

DISASTER
A disaster is a sudden event that seriously disrupts the functioning
of a community or society.

EXAMPLE:
Landslide

Tsunami

Earthquake
LANDSLIDE:
Is a movement of mass of earth down a slope.

Common cause is water.

Landslide and floods are closely related.

TSUNAMI:
The sudden rush of water.

TSU and NAMI

Tsunami waves do not resample normal sea waves.

EARTHQUAKE:
Shaking of the ground.

Volcanic activity and tectonic related.

Quake, Tremor or Temblor.

EFFECTS OF EARTHQUAKE
Shaking and ground rupture.

Fire.

Chemical spill.

Human impacts.
MITIGATION AND
ADAPTATION
MITIGATION The action of reducing the severity, seriousness,
or painfulness of something.

ADAPTATION The action or process of adapting or being

adapted.

THE DIFFERENT OF MITIGATION AND

ADAPTATION.
While mitigation focuses on the causes of climate change by
decreasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere or enhancing the
sinks of greenhouse gases, adaptation addresses the impacts of
climate change through an 'adjustment in natural or human systems in
response to actual or expected climatic stimuli or their effects, ...
QUESTIONS:
1. What is natural hazard?

As severe and extreme weather events that occur naturally in all

parts of the world.

A natural hazard is a naturally occurring event that might have a

negative effect on people or the environment.

2. Natural Hazard is part of disaster? Why?

Yes, because disaster is a sudden event that seriously disrupts the

functioning of a community or society. It can cause LANDSLIDE,
EARTHQUAKE also TSUNAMI.

3. What is the cause of earthquake?

The cause of earthquake is by shaking of ground and volcanic activity

and tectonic related.

4. Give some effects of an earthquake.

Shaking and ground rupture.

Fire.

Chemical spill.

Human impacts.

5. What is Landslide? What is common cause of landslide?

Landslide is a movement of mass of earth down a slope. The common

cause of landslide is water.
6. What is Tsunami?

The tsunami is sudden rush of water.

7. What is Mitigation?

Mitigation is the action of reducing the severity, seriousness, or

painfulness of something.

8. What is Adaptation?

Adaptation is the action or process of adapting or being adapted.

9. What is the different of MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION?

Mitigation focuses on the causes of climate change by decreasing.

Adaptation addresses the impacts of climate change through an
adjustment in natural or human systems in response to actual or
expected climatic stimuli or their effect.

10.What is the most known landslide?

2006, in southerm leyte, the number of dead is 1100 and two weeks
heavy rain.
