Customized Dress Form

The mannequin is drawn from the base body to measure up to the hip.
The patterns will be transferred to a resistant cardboard, it can be
packing or paspartout. If the latter is used, it is advisable to wet the
cardboard with a sprinkler so that it does not crack when modeling.
Another option is to recycle newspaper, gluing sheets to create a
thickness of several millimeters to hold and once dry cut the patterns
in it.

The pieces are cut ush and are fastened with paper tape (painter tape
or bodybuilder) to assemble, and you can give two hands of a
letterhead, with newspaper or wrapper and white glue. Letting it dry
between hands. So we give even more support.
On the other hand the pieces of the forreria will be cut, but take into
account that these pices are necessarily given SEWING MARGINS.
Ideal is to use bonded fabrics, since they are polyester and has a layer
of foam rubber (synthetic rubber on board) that will later facilitate us

the use when placing garments and fasten with pins to the
mannequin.
Inside the neck we can ll with wadding and use a pincushion.
Once lined, we can build a base with 3/4 inch PVC pipes with elbows
and T of 90. The most important measure is the height. Take the sum
of the back waist length plus the length of the pants as a reference for
the height of the support.

In the following image, the manikin with paspartout cardboard is

fastened with butter y hooks. To use this method remember to leave


margins to the pieces that assemble, since they will be assembled one

on top of the other. The same applies to the tweezers.

Make a stand with PVC pipes where the mannequin will be supported

from the shoulders.

Take as a measure of height the length of the longest leg to make the
height of the support. The pipes in the base must protrude to be

stable, and the shoulder bar must be the width of the back of the

mannequin for better support. It can be stuck to the support with

contact cement so it is safer. Once the manikin is placed, it can be


lled with newspaper and cover the bottom with a cardboard base.
