Introduction (15)
& Time
The teacher will introduce the outcome for the student and she will
explain the new key word.
The teacher will make fast review about the decimals and how they
point to it on the number line.
The teacher will start to teach the student how to compare between
the decimals using place value.
T: Today we will learn how to compare between two decimal to see
if one of them is greatest or least or equal to the anther by using
the place value.
T: If Reem and her friend decided to have two races. One was 0.2
Km, and the other was 0.4 Km. which race was longer?
T: So we have 0.2 and 0.4 and we have to find the longer race.
T: First I will draw the place value house and I will write the two
decimal on it.
Ones Decimal Tenths
0 . 2
0 . 4
T: Second step is to compare each place value to gather. We will
start with the ones and both of the ones are same (0) so we will
move to the next place value which it is the tenths and we have 2
and 4 which one of them is the greatest or the biggest number.
S: number 4 is greatest than 2.
T: yes you are right 4 are greatest than 2, so 0.4 is the longer race.
T: so if I will solve this comparison between this numbers.
0.5 0.3 so what is the comparing sign that you will use in this
situation.
T: we have to use the place value to find the greatest number to
write the right sign.
Ones Decimal Tenths
0 . 5
0 . 3
T: which one is greatest between the numbers?
S: 0.5 is the greatest.
T: so which sign we will but between the numbers >, <, or =
S: > this sign
T: good job you use the right sign.

T: if I have more than two numbers and I have to put them in the
right order. The number is (0.3, 0.9, and 0.7). How can come to the
board and draw the place value house to compare the numbers?
One of the students will come to the board and draw the place
value house and will find the greatest number and the least number
and will write them in the right order.
Resources
Main activities (15 min)
& Time
Activity 1 – High student
The student will have two comparing question and two ordering
questions to solve. Also they will have one word problem to solve it.
The teacher will give the student laminated place value chart to use
to solve the questions.

Activity 2 – Medium student

The teacher will give the student two comparing question between
two numbers and three ordering question between three and more
numbers. The teacher will give the student laminated place value
chart to use to solve the questions.

Activity 3 – Medium student

The teacher will give the student spinner the have the three sign of
comparing the student have to spin the spinner and have to create
equation by this sign so they will get the sign from the spinner and
they will write the equation.

Activity 4 – low student

The teacher will give the student table that has questions with the
place value chart to solve them. The student has to compare the
numbers using the place value house and they have to use the right
sign between the answer.

Activity 5 – low student

The teacher will give the student cards that have different numbers.
The student in this group will work as peer one will chose the two
cards and will change the two numbers to decimals then will create
the question to the other student in the white bored by write the
two number on it and draw circle between them and the other
student have to find the right sign to it using the place value. After
that they will switch places.

Differentiation activities (Support)

If the students finish the activity fast they have to open page 677 and start to solve
all the questions.

Differentiation activities (Stretch)

Resources
& Time Plenary/Conclusion (5 min)

The teacher will make short review to the student about comparing
between decimal using the place value and she will solve one
equation to them in the board.
T: So today we learned about comparing between two decimal by
using place value chart. Now class I need you to tell what did you
learned from the lesson?
How to solve this question? (0.55 __ 0.45)
Homework Students have to solve page 679 and 680 in the student book.
Assessment The teacher will write questions in the board and the student will
Strategies: use their white board to solve it and the teacher will tell the student
(5 min) that they have to flip the board till she ask them to show it to her.
I will write this three question in the board:
 0.4 __ 0.40
 0.75 __ 0.57
 Ordering (0.03, 0.30, 0.53)
