Presenter Dialogue 1

Fiona When does this documentary about whales finish?

Mark 8.30.

Fiona Mmm … that singing competition I like is on at 8.

Mark OK – I’ll record it. You can watch it after the news at 9.

Presenter Dialogue 2

Fiona My favourite programme at the moment is The Project on Channel 9.

Mark Oh, I think I watched it for a few minutes last night … It’s a medical drama, right?

Fiona Yeah, it’s an American series. It’s on every Saturday.

Mark I don’t often watch medical dramas, but I’ll watch it next Saturday.

Presenter Dialogue 3

Mark Can you pass me the newspaper, please?

Fiona Sure – here.

Mark I just want to see what time the news is on.

Fiona Oh, it finished a few minutes ago. I’m just waiting for the weather forecast.

Mark What? I thought the news started at 10.

Fiona That’s in the week. On Saturdays it’s Big Brother at 10, and the news and weather is at 9.30.

Unit 1A / 1B tapescript

School wasn’t easy for me and I was never good at maths or English. But I was in an after-school drama
club, and we often sang songs and performed plays. My mum loved coming to watch me.

When I was 18, I took part in a TV talent show, and that’s when everything changed. The judges were looking
for some girls for a new band, and they chose me and four other girls I didn’t know.

Well, after that it was amazing. One day you’re just a normal girl living at home, and the next minute, you’re a
celebrity, flying round the world, giving concerts, meeting famous people.

We had a brilliant time in the band for seven years, and we made a lot of money, but then we stopped. We’re
all doing different things now, but we’re still great friends. And here’s me, back on the same talent show I
started on, but this time I’m one of the judges.

Unit 1A / 1B tapescript

Ann Do you ever watch Seven Hearts? It’s a sort of reality TV show about a group of friends in London,
but it’s got some great people in it – like, Jennifer Smith.

Bob Oh, I know – she’s American, isn’t she?

Ann That’s right, but her family moved here when she was two or something. Anyway, in this series, she
shares a flat with Amy Ling.

Bob Is she that famous Chinese actress?

Ann That’s right. So those are the two main girls, and they live in the same block of flats as Jason King.

Bob Jason King?

Ann He’s Irish – he was in Troublemaker, you know, that spy movie. He got the award for best actor and
the film made millions.

Bob Does his character fall in love with Laura Mason, who played that Russian agent?

Ann No, that was The Moscow Connection. But talking of her, they offered her a part in Seven Hearts, but
she said no. It’s a pity really. Anyway, the last main guy is Peter Hepworth.

Bob Oh, I saw him once on stage in London doing Shakespeare.

Ann Really? Well, in this he’s great – he really makes me laugh. It’s a fantastic series. You should watch
it.
