Education has been my foremost strength. I have always tried to produce better results in
academics and to explore my knowledge to produce good results consistently. The exhaustive
nature of courses and a competitive grading system of my college has instilled in me a desire to
hunt in deeper into the subjects and deliver the best in me. This competitive world is driven by
various Management and mechanical factors required in producing significant outcomes in order
to maintain the reputed position among others. In a similar way I have been motivated by varying
factors which includes sports and academics. I have never given up in my life when it comes to
basketball or manufacturing a resilient component. Thus, facing problems played a key role in
realizing my goals and multitasking ability urged me to choose Masters in Industrial
Engineering as my career path as it emphasizes both on manufacturing and management skills
required to be a competent engineer.
Laudable performance in my higher secondary and senior secondary exams (87.25% twelfth
grade and 83% tenth grade) permitted me to pursue my undergraduate program at a pre-eminent
institute ranked amongst the top ten in my state of Tamil Nadu. My keen interest in the subjects
like Mathematics and Physics paved the way for me to dream about the aspiring course of
mechanical engineering. I strongly believe that prospective attitude and meddlesome thinking
will always be the path to success. I am interested in learning new concepts every day, following
Einstein sayings “once you stop learning, you start dying“.
My undergraduate program was equipped with the captivating subjects like Engineering
Mechanics, Engineering Graphics, Strength of Materials, Manufacturing Technology, Principles
of Management and Total Quality Management, Which were the cause of my wanting to explore
the various field of engineering as well as management. I have acquired a CGPA of 7.8. In my
Rookie year, I have spent more time on engineering drawings, which turned out to be the base
for my technical skills. As a freshman, I had attended the workshop on Auto Renovate at CEG,
guindy and it planted the seed to develop my scrutiny on Automobile Engineering, where I have
learnt about the assembling and dismantling of the four stroke and two stroke engines and the
functions of each and every component inside them. These gave me a strong foundation to
understand both theoretical and practical information beyond syllabus.
During my sophomore year, I came to know about the famous racing competition BAJA which
is organized by Society of Automobile Engineers where students must design and manufacture
an All-Terrain Vehicle on their own and bring life to a four wheeler beast. I was passionate about
driving racing vehicles which inspired me to join our college’s BAJA team. My versatile skills
and hard work got me a place in the team. This turned out to be the best part of my college life.
Our team was named as “THE ROCKETEER RACING” with the dynamic group of 25
students and they are assigned with 5 major subsystems (Roll cage, Steering, Transmission,
Brakes and Suspension) and our legacy has just started.
At initial stage, I was assigned as a team member of a steering subsystem and I need to work a lot
both on design and fabrication of a vehicle. The first stage in BAJA is to design each and every
component and analyze it with suitable load to check their factor of safety. I have acquired great
skills on various design softwares such as Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, Auto cad and Ansys
workbench and implemented them in our field of study to design our own vehicle, which made
me an enthusiastic Mechanical Designer. After completing the design stage, then there comes
the most interesting phase of fabrication. We work all together spending days and nights in our
college workshop with greasy pants and dirty hands to implement our design and turning it to be
a live model. Fabrication phase necessitates manufacturing processes like welding notching,
grinding, cutting, buffing and various lathe operations, which gave me hands on experience while
studying second year. After finishing the assembly of the vehicle, we took it all the way to
various parts of India to compete with the best team and secured some good number of positions
all over India and the great season came to an end.
At the beginning of my final year, I got great opportunity to represent my team at virtuals BAJA
and presented on our All-Terrain Vehicle and secured the position of 31st from a total of 400
teams all over India which made a huge mark as we rose up from 97th position (the previous
year). I don’t want to stop with these works and involved myself in the most laborious static
work of sales department. This provoked me to put some efforts on learning management skills
and also industrial layout including labour, assembly unit, calculations based on number of
machines and power units. Thus BAJA completely changed my lifestyle and my way of thinking
on each and every day’s progress.
Apart from academics, I wanted myself to be the best in sports and the game of BASKETBALL
always has the pure dominance in my life. I started playing when I was in 6th grade and got
proper coach, guidance and support from my family members when I reached 9th grade. From
that moment on, I have practiced a lot on daily basis to become the best player, for every match
that I play for my team. I have won so much in both school levels and college levels to pay
myself for the tough practice sessions that I have gone through. The game taught me so much
about the team work and how to sweat hard to become a champion. I love to hear this saying
whenever I am on the court”Hardwork beats talent when talent fails to work hard” which will
pump my nerves to strive for greatness. I have led my team to victory at various levels as a cool
Captain, which has helped to improve my leadership skills and qualities.
My obsession for Industrial Engineering began, when I visited the Integral Coach Factory in
my sophomore year, where I got impressed with the layout of the factory and I found it more
enchanting to have a job at such a place. Then research on sales department regarding BAJA
gave me a clear outlook about the industries and their management qualities on consistent
development of their factory. Looking into the manufacturing and production system and their
problem solving techniques using methods like 5S, kaizen, lean manufacturing and TPM
stimulated my interest towards Industrial Engineering. As I have learnt more from mechanical
and automobile engineering, this is the time to learn some Industrial management techniques to
execute my future plans on establishing a new industry in a superior way.
With a view to stretch out my knowledge in Industrial Engineering, I would like to chase my
dream in your country because in my opinion, Canada is a beautiful country with great society
and has leading universities to provide quality education. I strongly believe that Graduate study
is the predominant step in my professional life. When it comes to a quality of education, I don’t
want to compromise at all. I think university of Windsor will be a classic place for me to work on
more industrial projects. I am self-assured that, I will be a great value to the university and will
be able to meet all those expectations of the university as an ideal all-rounder.
Furthermore, University of Windsor offers the best pathway in this rapidly changing field of
engineering. The excellent research facilities and the department’s faculty and positive reviews
from across ,has whole-heartedly convinced me to pursue my higher studies at the institution.
Apart from this, I am particularly interested in Industrial Engineering program at University of
Windsor, as it provides the wide range of learning experience because of best research facilities.
Apart from all your excellent recognitions, the graduate program offered by your university,
would help me to progress towards my goals. I am eagerly looking forward to be a part in your
reputed institution.
After returning India, I would utilize my knowledge, which I have gained in my graduate studies
and I will try to implement my knowledge in different areas and serve my country. I will be the
one who will take care of my father's reputation once I return to India. All the assets and property
of my father will be taken care by myself.
