8-Ice breakers for Teens

Involving cell phones

& social media
Icebreaker #1- Bingo

This old game is now fun with a new relevant twist.

Students get to mark off their bingo square based on their
social media and technology habits that day. See 10 Bingo
printouts at the end of this packet.

Icebreaker #2- Emoji Story

Students must pick 5 Emoji’s that represent them and

share with the group. To choose, students can scroll
through their phones, or facilitator can have a bunch of
Emoji’s printed out in a pile that students choose from.

Icebreaker #3- Text Me

Students will “text” each other questions and answers on a

worksheet to get to know each other better. See
worksheet at the end of this packet.

Icebreaker #4- Picture This

Students will scroll through their camera roll on their

phone and choose a photo they want to share with
everyone and explain the story behind it.

Icebreaker #5- Where Am I

Students get 10 minutes to go somewhere in the school and

take a selfie. When they get back to the group, the other
students must try and guess where in the school they took the
selfie. Students who don’t have a phone can take a turn
borrowing with someone else in the group who volunteers to
let them.

Icebreaker #6- Selfie Scavenger Hunt

Students will pair up with someone and go on a scavenger

hunt around the school. They will come back and share their
selfies. See worksheet in the back of this packet for ideas.

Icebreaker #7- Gif sharing

Students will find a gif that explains their life and share it with
the group. Students who don’t have a phone can take a turn
borrowing with someone else in the group who volunteers to
let them.

Icebreaker #8- Social Media Post

Students will get an index card and write a social media post,
making sure not to let anyone see. All cards will be posted on
the whiteboard and people have to guess who “posted” what.
