A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics Grade 8

A. Content Standard: Demonstrates understanding of key concepts of inequalities in a triangle,
and parallel and perpendicular lines.
B. Performance Standard: Is able to communicate mathematical thinking with coherence and
clarity in formulating, investigating, analyzing, and solving real-life problems involving triangle
inequalities, and parallelism and perpendicularity of lines using appropriate and accurate
representations.
C. Learning Competency: At the end of 60 Minutes discussion, 75% of students with 80%
proficiency level should be able to:

Before we start our discussion, I want you to
group yourselves into three. Start counting

The first step that you need to do is that the

pictures and try to guess what word did the
four pictures represented.

to the second student by tapping his/her
back. If the second students don’t know also
the answer they will pass the description
until the group will get the correct answer.
The last students on the line per group will
write their answers on the board.

group must select their leader and write their
members name on a ¼ sheet of paper. You
may also select one or two presenters two

We formed the word parallel because as
shown in the figure there are stairs, black
and white lines, the two lines in the middle
of the road that separates it into two
different ways and two lines that have the
same distance to each other.

We formed the word CORRESPONDING
because the pictures show the two similar
figures like hands, ants and the two other
picture. Corresponding means having the
same characteristics as someone else.

Group 3 your turn! We formed the word ALTERNATE. We


said alternate because as shown in the four
pictures there are two alternating figures
with the same shape. The first pictures
alternate from top to bottom, while the
second and third alternating from left to
right.

angle, and the two rays with one common
endpoints so that it forms an angle.
