How To Solve Parajumbles

To solve a parajumble, first identify the sentences that provide context and introduce the main theme. Choose the best introductory sentence and then group related sentences that contain pronouns or nouns referring to each other. Order the sentences from general to specific or upstream to downstream using connectives to indicate the flow and relationship between sentences. Check that the reordered paragraphs have a logical flow before finalizing the solution.

HOW TO SOLVE PARAJUMBLES

 Choose the para jumble which is to be attempted, by checking to the left side of the
sentences-if the sentences consist of many pronouns and connectives then it is good para
jumble that can be attempted.
 To get the flow of the sentences, identify the main theme in the passage. Then, from the
sentences provided, check for the independent sentences.
 Generally, an independent sentence is the one- which gives generalized idea about the
para, which doesn’t consist of connecting words or pronouns.
 From those independent sentences, choose the better introductory sentence.
 Once you identify the introductory sentence, check for the pronouns, connecting words
and identify the blocks which can come together.
 Apply the upstream/downstream or generic/specific statements and form a correct flow of
the para.
 After forming a correct para, read the flow which you formed once again for
confirmation.

POINTS TO REMEMBER
 If there is a pronoun found in one sentence (let us say the sentence as A), check for the
sentence(B) which consist of the noun related to that pronoun. They both become a
logical block, by B coming first followed by A, because nouns and pronouns are
inseparable.
NOTE: The sentence A should immediately follow B.
 If the sentence(A) has definite article “THE” followed by a noun (eg: company), check
for the sentence(B) which consist of that noun and now B comes first followed by A.
NOTE: The sentence A can come any time after the introduction of B (provided there is
no new noun introduced between these sentences)
 If there is confusion choosing the introductory sentence between two independent
sentences, ALWAYS choose the sentence which gives a general idea of the para, which
introduces the date, place.
