The item that I chose for my Showcase was the collaborative group project with my
peers. Our assignment focused upon the concept of collaboration with colleagues and co-
teaching. I learned so much about the power of collaboration with peers and the direct effects
This Showcase item is visually pleasing and aesthetically designed. It has vivid graphics
and visuals which flow nicely throughout the presentation. The ideas presented are clear and
precise which can lead to the reader gaining powerful knowledge about collaboration and co-
teaching. The Showcase item is not overwhelming with words but does give enough
information to inform the reader about the positive aspects of collaboration and co-teaching.
My Showcase connects with the TPE’s eight, nine, and thirteen (California Teaching,
2016). TPE eight is involved with my Showcase because as teachers and special education
teachers work together, they learn more about their students (California Teaching, 2016). This
knowledge strengthens their ability to relate and connect with their differences and similarities.
It is powerful to have this understand when teaching students. TPE nine follows TPE eight
because of the planning that will then take place (California Teaching, 2016). Co-teaching can
improve a teachers ability to meet the needs of their students by partnering to address these
needs. TPE thirteen was found in my Showcase through the focus of reflection with others
(California Teaching, 2016). This can help teachers make adjustments to better meet the needs
of students. It can also drive growth of the teacher who is honing their skills as an educator.
These TPE’s have been impacted in this assignment by my improved understanding of the
benefits of working with peers to better impact all students within the classroom. I know that
as a new teacher I will have many challenges and struggles, but I feel that I can take on these

challenges by reaching out to my peers. This collaboration will help me continue to develop
into a better equipped teacher and person. I believe in the power of collaboration and look
forward to giving my students the opportunity to explore their ideas and learning through the
use of groups. I know this is just another step in my development and learning to become a
teacher, but I know that as a life-long learner I will always seek to find ways to improve and
