ABSTRACT
Rapid industrialization and urbanization have led to the evolution of the multi
storey buildings. Significant advances in the design and construction of high rise
buildings have occurred in these years. The Manual design is a cumbersome job and a
time consuming process, but for a beginner manual design helps to understand the basic
fundamentals that are involved in designing a building. It is true that design using
software is easy and time saving and mostly results are accurate. This has been possible
on account of developments in the use of new materials, construction techniques or
forms of service.
In the present project it is attempted to analyze and design a typical multi storey
building of G+6 floors. Stiffness matrix method has been used for the frame analysis
such that 2-D frames are analyzed. The design has been carried out using Limit state
method. The manual results thus carried out and are compared with the results that are
obtained from a software package STAAD Pro. So, this project mainly deals with the
analyzing and designing the structures through manual calculations and also through
STAAD Pro software.
