ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
of
School-Based Reading Month Report

I. Reading is one of the basic needs in education, it improves a learner as an independent person.
With word learning occurring rapidly, children begin to make increasingly fine distinctions od
words not only based on sounds (Goswami, 2001). Reading is a foundation towards a
prosperous lifelong living, it is not just an exercise of our mind but it also gives us a big impact
in dealing life as a whole. Reading is fun, fun that deals as to a better understanding on
everything that surrounds us. Read and you’ll learn, learn while you read.

II. The Manabawon teaching force followed the given activities based on what was our Reading
Coordinator reechoed aligned on the discussion during the District Reading Coordinators
Meeting. Every grade level must have participants for every activity. The number of participants
in every grade level are the following:
 Kinder (Picture Naming)- 5 participants
 Grade 1 (Reading Assessment)- 2 participants
 Grade II (Reading Assessment)- 5 participants
 Grade III (PHIL-IRI Test)- 3 participants
 Grade IV (PHIL-IRI Test)- 3 Participants
 Grade V (Read and Tell)- 2 Groups with 5 members each group
 Grade VI (Choral Reading)- 2 Groups with 7 members each group
Teachers are assigned and tasked to facilitate the activities, in order to have a smooth and
not time-consuming flow of the activities one (1) teacher will facilitate one (1) activity, every
activity were conducted in every room assigned by our floating teacher. The facilitators were
the one in charge on how she/he will manage the given activity. After the activities, the
facilitators gave their results by listing the names of the winners separated to the names of
participants who didn’t make it. Exactly one (1) o’clock in the afternoon we had our awarding
of winners and giving of certificate to every participant who inculcate their effort and time for
this celebration.

III. The only hindering factors in conducting the activity is the undesirable body pain that the
teachers experienced but still the program and activities were successfully done.

IV. In facilitating, every teacher was handling one activity. It is much easy and very time-bounded
especially that we have different activities per grade level. The facilitators were excellent in
their tasks on hand.

V. The activity that we’ve conducted as a whole was a successful one because of the help of every
teacher especially our school head who made it easier to conduct the various activities. The
learners were able to showcase what they’ve got emphasizing their capabilities and skills in
reading.
