Knowledge The students are expected to:
Identify similarities and differences of academic texts to other texts;

Skills revise sentences to induce formal tone; and


Attitude Give the importance of the use of English language in academic writing
Content Introduction to Academic Writing and EAPP per se

Procedures
Activity 1. The activity will be done in dyad.
2. Each pair is given 5 minutes to list down all the texts that students read and write
in high school, college or university. Write as many as they can.
3. The texts should be specific.
4. After the time, one pair will be asked as the sharer and the teacher as the checker.
5. Every answer shared by the pair will be checked by the teacher and every same
answer from the other pairs will be slashed out. Every wrong answer will also be
deducted from the over all score.
6. Answers that are unique will only be given merit points.

Analysis After the consolidation of answers, the teacher will ask the students to categorize the
examples given into two.
After which, ask the students to point out the similarities and differences of the given texts
according to the following:

a. Structure
b. Content
c. Language

STRATEGY: Think, Pair, Share


Abstraction  Out of the discussion, let the students infer the meaning of academic text/writing.
Lecturette:

 Definition of Academic text/writing


 Purpose of Academic Writing
 English Language in the Academe and in the business world
Application Let the students write down a short reflection about how they view the importance of
academic writing in their lives as students and future professionals.
