it’s been ages since the last time i saw you. I thought that this is just another story of someone putting something in the kitchen area. But, when you started to bang the window of the kitchen with the wooden block that you were holding, I know that you are up to something.
“Korby, what are you doing?”, I
asked. “I am fixing this!”, as you pointed to the top of the ktchen. I asked why you need to fix it and then you said that because it’s broken. Oh yeah, right! I wondered if you are helping your dad fix things at home too and so I curiously asked. But then you said, you dont help dad because he does it all by himself. Oh well, maybe you could help me to look for some broken things at the centre and we could fix it. We found ourselves in this corner as we look for some of the things that we could fix. What can we do with these domino blocks. You had such brilliant idea when you said that you would like to make a house out of it. And you started to lay down the foundation of the house. You started with two blocks at the bottom and then carefully put the ‘walls’ on the side. You made sure that it could stand and hold another set of blocks before putting them on top. And Just after a while, I saw you holding this piece of yellow block that you were using a while ago in ’fixing’ the kitchen. “Hammer, hammer, hammer”, while you used this block to hammer the dominos. “Are they ready korbs?’, I asked. And you responded with ‘not yet!’ while putting another set of blocks on top of them. Unfortunately, your tower has fallen down but I did not see you getting frustrated about it. Instead, you took all the blocks and started rebuilding the tower. I love your determination Korby! It’s nice that you have that drive to finsih what you have started and you do not mind those little disappointment coming your way. You have always been looking always at what you can do about the situation rather than things of what you did wrong. I cant wait to see more of you building other stuff. ANother day at the centre. Good morning korbs! When I started my day today, I spotted you at this corner. My attention was caught by these cubes that were stack on top of each other. And you were continuously adding some more. I got curious and so I asked. You told me that this is your house. You continue sharing some of the parts of your house which has its chimney and door. The bedrooms are all in the middle part of the house. I wonder if this is similar to your real house. hmmm. What learning has happened?
Korby, construction has always
been a major interest of yours. You like building towers and houses. You like the idea of fixing and hammering. But As I have observed you lately, more than the interest, I noticed that you have always been the kind of learner who sets a goal for himself and work towards it. The distractions happening on the side dont bother you at all. You Work and show that you can rebuild something that has already been destroyed. I love that kind of attitude and I hope that you continue to be like that. Because you know what Korby, life is lived by that. We need to always look at the brighter side of things. Maybe the thing that you have constructed has fallen apart but I think it happened because you know for yourself that you could make a better one next time. Building his own house…
The journey continues. As you were playing at the block
corner, I thought of challenging you if you could make a house that can fit you. You looked around and spotted these long wooden blocks. You stopped and planned on what you would do. Immediately after, I saw you starting to build something, ofcourse with your little hammer. I felt the enthusiasm and the confidence that you could do it all by yourself. And yes you did it Korbs! Look what you have built! I am impressed!
Korbyn, there’s no doubt that you are so confident and
independent. You took the intiative to learn the things on your own. You epxlore the ways on how you could be the teacher of your onw learning. You took pride in the things that you do. You have started from just fixing something in the house and now you have extended into making your own little house. I could not be more proud of you. I know Korby that you can do more things. I believe in your abilities and I want you to continue believing in yourself. Well done Korbs!
