Just Go With The Flow

The document describes an activity to model how oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between the lungs and circulatory system. Students are assigned to different areas representing parts of the lungs, heart, and blood vessels. Partners pick up paper strips labeled as oxygen in the lungs and carry them through the heart and arteries to the capillaries, where they exchange the oxygen for carbon dioxide and return through the veins and heart to repeat the cycle. The goal is to have students physically trace the path of gas exchange and blood flow between the lungs and body to explain this critical physiological process.
