I Am Man of Constant Sorrow

The song tells the story of a man who has faced constant trouble in his life. He bids farewell to his home of Kentucky where he was born and raised. For six years he has been in trouble and found no pleasure in life. He has no friends to help him and is bound to wander. He expects to never see his old lover again and may die while traveling on a northern railroad. His body can be buried in a deep valley where he may lay for many years. Though his friends may see him as a stranger, he promises to meet his lover again on God's golden shore in the afterlife.

I Am Man of Constant Sorrow

Soggy Bottom Boys

I am a man of constant sorrow,

I've seen trouble all my day
I bid farewell to old Kentucky,
The place where I was born and raised
(The place where he was born and raised)
For six long years I've been in trouble,
No pleasures here on earth I found
For in this world I'm bound to ramble,
I have no friends to help me now
(He has no friends to help him now)
It's fare thee well my old lover
I never expect to see you again
For I'm bound to ride that northern railroad,
Perhaps I'll die upon this train
(Perhaps he'll die upon this train)
You can bury me in some deep valley,
For many years where I may lay
Then you may learn to love another,
While I am sleeping in my grave
(While he is sleeping in his grave)
Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger
My face, you'll never see no more
But there is one promise that is given
I'll meet you on God's golden shore
(He'll meet you on God's golden shore)

I Am Man of Constant Sorrow

Soggy Bottom Boys
Soy un hombre de dolor constante
Soy un hombre de constante dolor,
I am a man of constant sorrow,

He visto problemas todo el da

I've seen trouble all my day

Me despido del viejo Kentucky,

I bid farewell to old Kentucky,

El lugar donde nac y me cri

The place where I was born and raised

(El lugar donde naci y se cri)

(The place where he was born and raised)
Durante seis largos aos he estado en problemas,
For six long years I've been in trouble,

No pleasures here on earth I found

For in this world I'm bound to ramble,

No tengo amigos que me ayuden ahora

I have no friends to help me now

(l no tiene amigos para ayudarlo ahora)

(He has no friends to help him now)
Te va bien mi viejo amante
It's fare thee well my old lover

Nunca espero volver a verte

I never expect to see you again

For I'm bound to ride that northern railroad,

Perhaps I'll die upon this train

(Tal vez morir en este tren)

(Perhaps he'll die upon this train)
Me puedes enterrar en algn valle profundo,
You can bury me in some deep valley,

Desde hace muchos aos donde puedo acostarme.

For many years where I may lay

Entonces puedes aprender a amar a otro,

Then you may learn to love another,

Mientras duermo en mi tumba

While I am sleeping in my grave

(Mientras duerme en su tumba)

(While he is sleeping in his grave)
Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger

Mi cara, nunca ms vers

My face, you'll never see no more

Pero hay una promesa que se da.

But there is one promise that is given

I'll meet you on God's golden shore

(He'll meet you on God's golden shore)
