ACTIVITIES

Activity 1: COMUNICATION – Warm-up


Objective: To increase students’attention

Procedure Interaction Timing

Teacher attends the pupils and ensures a friendly atmosphere so that the students T-Ss 1’
might feel encouraged to fully participate in the class. (greetings, teacher’s
presentation, How are you?”). Teacher inquires about how much pupils enjoy
music and how often they listen to.

Activity 2: LEAD-IN
Objective: To introduce the topic of the lesson
Skills: Listening
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue
Procedure Interaction Timing
T-Ss 5’
Teacher gives each S a worksheet with incomplete song fragments. Teacher draws a
spider on the blackboard. Teacher tells the Ss that they will hear a few fragments
from songs and that they have to fill in the gaps from the worksheet.
After the songs end, the teacher asks the Ss to say what expressions were missing
from each song and adds them to the spider on the blackboard.

Activity 3: GRAMMAR
Objective : to explain the context in which each expression is used
Skills: speaking
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue

Procedure Interaction Timing


Teacher asks : What do you think these expressions refer to? What meanings do T-Ss 15’
they convey?
Teacher writes the answers the Ss give to the question and gives the Ss who
answer a card. Teacher announces the topic and explains to the Ss what each
expression refers to, erasing the wrong answers, if there are any, from the
blackboard. Teacher gives each of the rest of the Ss a card.
Teachere explains that each of them has got half a sentence and that they need to
find the person who has the other half. Each set of cards highlights a certain
superstition related to luck.

Activity 4: PRACTICE
Objective: to match the sentences from the cards to pictures
Skills: speaking, writing
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue

Procedure Interaction Timing

T-Ss
Teacher places several pictures depicting an unlucky man on the blackboard and 13’
PW
asks the students what should change in that particular situation in order for the
man to turn his luck around. Each student who gives an answer must come to the
blackboard and write it.

Activity 5 : FEEDBACK AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT


Objectives: to speak about the topics
Skills: speaking
Teaching techniques: dialogue, explanation

Procedure Interaction Timing


Teacher asks if there is anything which was not understood by students. T-Ss 1’
Teacher gives Ss a worksheet as homework.
Teacher appreciates students’ behaviour during the class.
