Procedure: Customizing the Cabling Ribbon Interface


Before you begin Hide/Unhide

Training Files:
Download the training files using the button below, if you have not done so already.

Download

Procedure Setup:
1. To avoid naming conflicts, it is recommended you save your work, click File > Close until no models
display, then click File > Manage Session > Erase Not Displayed.

2. Click File > Manage Session > Set Working Directory and navigate to the PTCU\CreoParametric2
\Cabling\Ribbon folder and click OK

3. Click File > Open and double-click RIBBON.ASM.

Task 1. Customize the Cabling ribbon.

1. Enable only the following Datum Display types: .

2. In the ribbon, select the Applications tab.

3. Click Cabling from the Engineering group.

4. View the In Graphics toolbar.

5. Right-click the In Graphics toolbar.


◾ Disable ProCmdEnvCblStyle and Ref Designator Labels.

◾ Click in the background.

6. Right-click the In Graphics toolbar.


◾ Enable ProCmdEnvCblStyle and Ref Designator Labels.

◾ Click in the background.

7. Right-click over the ribbon and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar.

8. In the Creo Parametric Options dialog box, select All Commands from the Choose commands from:
drop-down list.

9. Select the Close icon from the Customize Quick Access Toolbar list.

10. In the All Commands list, scroll down and select Cable Display Setting.

11. Click Add and then click OK.

12. Notice that the Cable Display Setting icon is added to the Quick Access toolbar after the Close icon.

13. Right-click over the ribbon and enable Minimize the Ribbon.

14. Next to the Command Search, click Maximize the Ribbon to restore the ribbon.

15. Right-click the Cosmetics group and select Groups.


◾ Notice that you can disable groups from the Cabling ribbon tab.

16. Notice the contents of the Route group.

17. Right-click the Route group and select Customize the Ribbon.
◾ Notice that the Route group has a collapse priority of 5.

18. Right-click Route Network from the Route group and enable Small Button.

19. Drag the OverBraid icon into the Route group drop-down menu.

20. Right-click Route Cables and enable Hide Command Label.

21. Drag the View tab so it is positioned to the right of the Cabling tab.

22. In the Creo Parametric Options dialog box, select Commands Not in the Ribbon from the Choose
commands from: drop-down list.
◾ These commands could be added to the ribbon.

23. Notice the options in the Creo Parametric Options dialog box:
◾ Locate the New Tab/New Group buttons.

◾ Select Export all Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar customizations from the Import/Export
types drop-down menu.
◾ Notice that this command would export a *.ui file.

◾ Click Cancel.

24. In the Creo Parametric Options dialog box, select Restore all Ribbon tabs and Quick Access
Toolbar customizations from the Restore Defaults types drop-down menu.
◾ Click Yes and then click OK.

This completes the procedure.
