At present the strength of temporary faculty members, namely TF, (4 members) as
large as 50% of the total number (9 members) of the Physics faculty in the   Department of

Physics, MIT Campus. Though the teaching workload can be managed somehow with the

existing collection of regular and temporary staff, the research and development activities and
up­gradation of academic standards could not be carried out by all but only by the  regular
faculty members and the strength of such  faculty members is very poor. Hence, in order to
upgrade the quality of research work and publication standards of the Department of Physics
at   the   MIT   Campus   in   a   manner   competitive   to   other   research   oriented   higher  learning
Institutions countrywide, it is essential to increase the strength of regular faculty members   to
50%   or   more   of   the   total   strength   because   the   academic   research   and   development
responsibilities   of   regular   faculty   members   are   certainly   superior   to   the   temporary   faculty
members.

Therefore,   it   is   requested   that   more   number   (at   least   2   more   numbers,   which
includes   one   regular   faculty   member   compensating   a   professor   retiring   on   31­05­2019)   of
regular   faculty   members   be   transferred/deputed/appointed   to   the   MIT   Campus   so   that   the
research and development activities are improved in this Campus. Kindly consider this request
seriously and do the needful.

At   present   out   of   the   total   number   (10   members)   of   teaching   staff   in   the
Department of Chemistry, MIT Campus, the strength of temporary faculty members, namely
TF alone is nine (9)  which is overwhelmingly  high when compared  to the only one regular
teaching   staff   available   in   the  Department   of   Chemistry,   MIT   Campus.   Though   the
teaching   workload   can   be   managed   somehow   with   the   existing   collection   of   regular   and
temporary   staff,   the   research   and   development   activities   and   up­gradation   of   academic
standards   could   not   be   carried   out   by   all   but   only   by   the  regular   faculty   members.   In   the
Department of Chemistry here the comparative ratio of regular faculty to temporary teaching
staff is alarmingly low (1:9) and, consequently, the research and development activities/output
is very poor (much less than the other disciplines of this Division). Hence, in order to upgrade
the quality of research work and publication standards of the Department of Chemistry at the
MIT Campus in a manner competitive to other research oriented  higher  learning institutions
countrywide, it is essential to increase the strength of regular faculty members to 50% or more
of the total strength because the academic and research and development responsibilities of
regular faculty members are certainly superior to the temporary faculty members.

Therefore, it is requested that more number (atleast 5 more, in addition to the
existing 1) of regular faculty members be transferred/deputed/appointed to the MIT Campus so
that the research and development activities are improved here. Kindly consider this request
seriously and do the needful.

At present the strength of temporary faculty members, namely TF (14 members) is
very much more than the existing strength of regular faculty members (5 members)  in the
Department of Mathematics, MIT Campus. Though the teaching workload can be managed
somehow   with   the   existing   collection   of   regular   and   temporary   staff,   the   research   and
development activities could not be carried out by all but only by the regular faculty members.
Further,   M.Sc   (Mathematics)   and   M.Phil   (Mathematics)   Degree   programmes   are   also
conducted and these Post­Graduate programmes  require higher  level  of  expertise than that
needed for teaching UG Courses, which is lacking in many of the temporary teaching staff (TF).
Hence, in order to meet with the higher level of expertise to handle PG programmes and to
upgrade   the   quality   of   research   work   and   publication   standards   of   the   Department   of
Mathematics at the MIT Campus in a manner competitive to other research oriented  higher
learning  Institutions  countrywide,  it  is  essential  to  increase  the  strength  of  regular   faculty
members to 50% or more of the total strength because the academic, research and development
responsibilities   of   regular   faculty   members   are   certainly   superior   to   the   temporary   faculty
members.
