COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this introductory course, students will become adept with Image Editing, the history of internet, principles of a website and webpage designing using HTML 5, CSS 3 and
JavaScript. In the first quarter, students should be able to make simple postcards, infographics and vexel art. They should be able to manipulate images. Students will gain practice in
using key applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Notepad++ and Sublime. The remaining quarters focus in understanding the development of www and websites. An introduction to
the history of HTML will also encourage them to appreciate the internet we have today. Another emphasis is on mastery of HTML and CSS codes. They will earn that programming
language used for website structure and website designing. It is designed to provide a key introduction to the essentials web development languages. It is the students’ first step into
web page creation and maintenance. Course content will focus in HTML, CSS and JavaScriptin the context of web development practices. Students will experience how to create basic
web pages including basic structuring of page content, apply basic formatting styles using CSS and understanding JavaScript for basic interactivity.
Prior to attending this course, students should be familiar with using personal computers with a mouse and keyboard and possess basic typing skills. Students should be able to
launch and close programs; navigate to information stored on the computer; and manage files and folders. Familiarity with web browsers would be an advantage. A general
understanding or interest on web development/design and internet subjects could enhance the participant’s experience.
Through this course, students should learn the history of internet and how webpages are made. They should be knowledgeable of Adobe Photoshop, HTML 5, CSS 3 and
JavaScript. The course aims to help students to create website applications. The learners are expected to produce their personal website, data entry form, class schedule using tables,
tic tac toe game and a simple calculator. They should be able to add and maipulate multimedia in webpages.
