Lesson Plan - Demo

This lesson plan discusses kinship in a Grade 11 social studies class. Students will define and discuss different types of kinship like kinship by blood and marriage. They will draw pictures of their own families and discuss which kinship systems they fall under. Through a group activity using freeze frames, students will learn about concepts like descent, lineage, endogamy, exogamy, monogamy, and polygamy. By relating kinship to their own families, students will understand how kinship structures society's social institutions.
