Summer Internship - June 2019
Summer Internship - June 2019
Introduction
Internship training is a very vital component of BBA/B Com program; which gives students a bird’s eye
views of the corporate world/civic society and prepares them for the challenges that lie ahead in their
future. Good and sincere work done during this training will facilitate students with their final job
placement, help deliver value to family business, create being a ‘good citizen’ vibes and also prepare for
the future higher education. Summer internship is to enable students to remain in touch with the society
and business world, and gain some practical insight to theoretical concepts learnt during the preceding
academic year.
For continuous guidance of all students, a faculty guide will be allocated. Faculty Guide will be the main
point of link, for the entire duration of summer internship, guidance on reports and final evaluation.
Detailed Instructions:
1. Interns of first year will work with a functional NGO.
2. Second year students will undertake internship with Small or Micro enterprises (SMEs).
3. The duration of internship for first and second year batches is 01 to 30 June. Students are advised to
adhere to this period. Mandatory internship is of four completed weeks.
4. All interns are advised to be in touch with his/her faculty mentor regularly. It is mandatory to provide
a weekly feedback to the faculty mentor through e-mail. Feedback is about progress of your
internship training/experience and any difficulties encountered.
5. Possible list of NGOs will be displayed on the Internship notice board. This may not be exhaustive in
itself. Students will be required to contact the company themselves for an intern’s role.
6. First Year students will also spearhead a ‘responsible citizenship’ campaign in their home town/area.
This can be within the RWA or village/town and even with the support of NGO. This is in addition to
working with the NGOs. Details of ‘ten actionable points’ and background are explained in the
attached Concept Note.
7. All to carry a letter from the departmental office before final end-module exam in May. The letter is
to request the NGO/SME to accept him/her as an intern for a specified time.
8. Students must undergo the training with proper discipline, punctuality and in an ethical manner.
9. Students will write a brief report on their tasks performed and experience gained. This will be
deposited in a spiral bound copy with the mentor on or before 15 July. All students will appear for a
viva with a panel of faculty to explain on the work done and assessment.
10. The assessment will be of two credits.
11. Notwithstanding the source of internship generation, all students must include a NGO/SME offer
letter on a company letterhead, signed by the head of organization with the final report. The Offer
Letter must confirm duration of the internship, stipend or incentive, name of the training manager
with email ID and telephone number and location of the internship.
Internship Report
The students will prepare a 35 to 50 pages report on the entire summer internship experience. The report
will include all the certificates, overview of the organisation, roles or work assigned and done, experience
gained, recommendations and conclusion. First year students will describe their own campaign and
experience in respect of ‘responsible citizenship’ in the report.
