DRAWING ASSIGNMENT II

CE 2211 – CIVIL ENGINEERING METHODS

Suppose that you have been consulted by an electronic engineer to plan and design his house. The proposed
site for the house is situated in Kaduwela city limits. He is willing to spend about Rs 12 million for the
construction of his house. Consider the following details of his family when you design his house.

Wife is a medical doctor

Three children (Two sons are going to school and the daughter is still 3 years old)

Engineer’s father who is a retired teacher (72 years old) is also living with them

The family wishes to employ a housemaid and a driver

You are expected to plan a two/three story house according to the following steps.

1. Write the client brief.


2. Draw the bubble diagram for the above client brief.
3. Sketch the floor plan
4. Draw the floor plans (Mention the scale).
5. Draw the front elevation, a sectional elevation, and etc… for the proposed house.
6. Draw the site plan, foundation details (Mention the scale).

Please indicate the assumptions you make in a separate sheet and submit. Complete the 1, 2, and 3 steps and
bring to the drawing workshop II.

The assignment is due in two weeks. For delayed submissions 10% of received marks will be deducted.
