Lesson Plan in Mathematics
Lesson Plan in Mathematics
I. Objective: Convert common units of measure from larger unit to smaller unit and vice
versa: liter (L) to milliliter (mL)
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic: Converting Common Units of Capacity Measure
B. References: TG, Math 3, pp. 354 – 357
CG, Math 3
LM, Math 3, pp. 282 – 285
C. Materials: activity cards, empty plastic bottles of different capacities, pictures,
charts
D. Value Focus: Cleanliness, Decisiveness, Thriftiness
III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill
1.a. Use flashcards. Pupils use mental math in finding the product/quotient.
a. 10 x 1000
b. 3000 x 50
c. 12 x 2000
d. 3000 ÷ 2
e. 1000 ÷ 50
1.b. Find the fractional part
2 1
a. of 600 d. of 500
3 2
3 2
b. of 1000 e. of 1000
4 3
2
c. of 1000

2. Review: You can use paper and ballpen to solve.
1. A pupil weighs 40 kilograms. How much does the pupil weigh in grams?
2. A cat weighs 500 grams. How many kilograms does it weigh?
3. Rommel bought 30,000 grams of potatoes. How many kilograms of
potatoes did he buy?
4. Nora needs 2 kg of glutinous rice to cook suman. There are only 250g
per pack of glutinous rice in the store. How many packs of rice will
she buy?
3. Motivation:
(Show a picture of an estero with plastic bottles, cups, cans, etc. floating)
Say:
Look at the pictures and describe what you see.
What becomes of our surroundings if there are many garbage around
especially plastic bottles, cups, cans, etc.?
What will happen to the people living in the dirty places?
Why do we need to keep our surroundings clean?
How can you maintain cleanliness in your house? In your classroom?
What objects in the picture can we reuse or recycle?
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presenting the Lesson
Ask:
When you buy bottled mineral water or juice, aside from the brand,
what other things do you want to see in its label? (expiry date,
ingredients, nutrition facts, serving size, etc.)
Is it necessary to know those facts? Why?
In our lesson in science, what state of matter is water or juice?
What are some other examples of liquid?
What are the characteristics of liquid?
Say: Today we will reuse empty bottles with different sizes in our lesson.
Groups 1 and 2
Materials: 2 empty bottles that can hold 500 mL of water and 1 liter
of water
Directions: Pour the 1 liter of water in the 2 empty bottles
Questions:
a. How many liter of water is transferred to the 2 empty
bottles?
b. How many milliliters are there in 1 liter?
Groups 3 and 4
Materials: 4 – 250 mL bottle of water and an empty bottle that can
hold 1 liter of water
Directions: Pour the water from the four 250 mL bottles to a 1 liter
bottle container
Questions:
a. How many milliliters of water did you pour in the 1 liter
bottle container?
b. How many liter are there in 1000 milliliters?
4 x 500 mL = 2000 mL
Since 1000 mL = 1 liter
Therefore: 4 – 500 mL of milk is equal to 2 liters
IV. Evaluation
Direction: Read, think and solve the following problems.
1
1. Rogel drinks 2 L of water in a day. How many milliliters of water does he drink in
2
one day?
2. A water tub can hold 75,000 mL of water. How many liters of water can a water tub
holds?
3. Noy Jose buys 15,000 mL gasoline everyday. How many liter costs Php 50.00, how
much will he spend everyday?
5. Mother tells you to buy 3 liters of milk in the store. There are only 500 mL of milk
sold in the store. What will you do? How many bottles of milk will you buy?
V. Assignment
2. Ang usa ka water tub masudlan og 75,000 mL nga tubig. Pila man ka
liters nga tubig ang masulod sa water tub?
EVALUATION:
2. Ang usa ka water tub masudlan og 75,000 mL nga tubig. Pila man ka
liters nga tubig ang masulod sa water tub?
