ACTIVITY REPORT
NAME OF ACTIVITY: Feedbacking of Previous Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE), Nov 2018
DATE: December 11, 2018
VENUE: Cor Jesu College – CHS Faculty Room
PARTICIPANTS: NLE Nov 2018 Passers, BSN IV Students, CHS Dean and Faculty Staffs
I. RATIONALE:
This activity was made possible with the cooperation of recent NLE examinees who also passed
the test of profession licensing.
II. OBJECTIVES:
The attention of all BSN IV students was called for a meeting with the CHS Dean and Faculty
Staffs. The recent NLE passers also took part of the said meeting. As soon as the participants were in
qurom, feedbacking commenced.
Mearl Carlo Tampipi started the meeting with a prayer. Everyone was on their seat as Dean
Rebato stated the purpose of the said activity. She acknowledged the success of the recent passers of the
NLE. Everyone who was present applauded and congratulated the examinees. From that point on, each
one narrated their experience from the review days to the day they took the examination.
Melody Tabanao, one of the passers, stated that most questions are bound with research. Mr.
Orquina, a faculty member, raised a question about dynamics of the test. He clarified the change that was
made in Nursing Practice 1. This examination was supposedly an examination of fundamental nursing
procedures and theoretical foundation. However, a change was implemented by the board of nursing
creating NP 1 as an examination of community health nursing and DOH programs which were then part
of NP 2. This was responded positively by Joy Dela Cruz, another passer, who claimed that questions
were related to the introduction of NDP (Nurse Deployment Program) of the DOH to the urban and rural
communities. She added that question pertaining to monthly salary of NDP nurses was also included.
Common drugs of choices for medical cases were also asked. There were only few questions
related to Psychiatric Nursing as mentioned by a successful passer, Jessa Lofranco. She added that color
coding for Emergency Nursing was part of the NP4. She claimed that color coding for Triage and
Emergency Nursing differ significantly. Moreover, the questions about Nursing Research made a large
impact to the recent Nurse Licensure Examination. When the passers simultaneously recalled the
questions, Mr. Orquina identified the questions as part of Master’s degree program. This made everyone
concluded that relevant information and higher level of study were now integrated in the questioning for
licensure.
As each passer spoke their experience, they also mentioned their plans of future employment. Ms.
Joy Dela Cruz planned of going back to the US since her family is living in Hawaii. Others hoped to have
an experience of 2 to 3 years before going out of the country. Wrapping up the meeting, Dean Rebato
wished the BSN IV students another successful turn out of results.
The feedbacking activity was helpful to the BSN IV students as they are well informed of the
pattern of the examination. This was also a right time for the nurses for due recognition of their successful
stint in the board examination. Furthermore, the faculty staffs can also make changes to the curriculum in
response to the pattern of nursing board questions.
The meeting started late since the BSN IV still had a major class. There should have been a clear
memorandum to call for their presence. At the same time, this activity can also greatly help other
undergraduates in their nursing board examination. In the next feedbacking, it is hoped that all
undergraduates take part of the activity.
