At first, when approaching this assignment, I had no clue where to start. I wasn’t sure if
I wanted to start with a sport, or how my curriculum lines up with the other teachers that I’ll be
teaching with. After doing some research, and looking over my classmates’ examples, I was
able to get an idea of where I wanted to start. Milton had a great curriculum plan to me, and it
is very similar to the things I like to do and teach. I feel it is important to start off your class
with dialogue and some refreshers to see where your class stands. Some of the material may
be familiar to them and some may be new, but it’s good to get a starting point to know where
we need to put more emphasis on. Moving forward into the next unit of Nutrition, I think this
is key for students to know. Especially being in High School, their body is going to change
dramatically, so it is important to give them the correct nutritional information, so they can
know the importance of eating healthy as well as physical activity and all the benefits that come
with it. After the first two units, we will transition into traditional sports. At the school site that
I will be located, the school lines up fall sports with the PE curriculum. So, my first two units
would be Football, and Volleyball, as well as an aquatic unit for swimming. You can see in my
plan I incorporated research on the sport that the will be participating in to satisfy the common
core requirement.
