A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN

TECHNOLOGY & LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION 10

I – OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
A. Enumerate basic principles in preparing pasta
B. Name the pasta used in different dishes
C. Examine the differences of the cooking time of different pasta shapes
D. Cook pasta by following the recipe and the cooking chart

II – SUBJECT MATTER:
TITLE: Preparing Pasta
REFERENCE: Technology and Livelihood Education 10 (Cookery) pp. 116-119
MATERIALS: Powerpoint Presentation, Laptop, Stove, Pan, Cooking Materials

III – PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Motivation
1. Pictures of different pasta dishes will be shown to the students for them to analyze.

2. The following questions will be asked by the teacher.


 What are on the pictures?
 What have you noticed about the dishes on the pictures?
 What is the common characteristic that the four dishes share?

C. Presentation
1. The teacher will present the picture below. The students will then give the name of the pasta
that they are familiar with.
2. The teacher will present the meaning of pasta to the class. She will also elicit students’ ideas
about it.
3. The teacher will then present the four major classifications of pasta by showing two examples
each. The students will have to identify the similar characteristics of the two examples to arrive to
a description of each classification.

4. The teacher will then present pasta dishes. Students have to identify the pasta used in each dish.
They also have to describe the sauce that accompanies the pasta.

5. The teacher will then discuss about the cooking time of each pasta and the recipe for cooking
al dente pasta.

D. Generalization
1. The students in group of four will be asked to give the students a copy of pasta cooking chart/matrix
that they have to study. They have to examine the differences of the cooking time of different pasta
shapes.
2. They will also be given other questions that they have to answer.
3. Students have to present their output in front of the class.
4. The teacher will then synthesize the answers of the groups.

E. Evaluation
1. The class will be divided into four.
2. Each group will be tasked to cook a particular pasta.
3. The class will have to list down the steps in cooking the assigned pasta including the time for it to be
cooked.
4. The groups will then follow their recipe and present it to the class by showing the finished product.
5. Students from other groups will also be asked to give feedbacks.

IV. Assignment
The students will be asked to research or come up with their own unique pasta recipe.
