Bptlessonplan

This lesson plan introduces students to the five geographic regions of Georgia. The teacher will give an overview of each region and then divide students into groups, assigning each group a different region to research. Using Microsoft PowerPoint and Audacity, the students will create a presentation and recording about their assigned region, including its location, places within the region, animals found there, and an interesting fact. The groups will then present their projects to the class. The lesson incorporates technology, allows students to learn in different ways, and has them apply their knowledge to create an original work.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I think what I will have the students do supports all students. English
language learners will have the opportunity to practice speaking English while recording. Students who
struggle to talk in front of peers can do the recording for practice. The students will be using PowerPoint and
Audacity to produce their final product. The students will integrate their knowledge of what they have
learned about the five geographic regions in the presentations they will create. The students will also use
technology by researching information about their regions.
Lesson idea implementation: I will start the lesson by introducing the five geographic regions of Georgia. As
a class we will talk about all the regions and discuss them individually one by one. Depending on what you
think is appropriate you can talk about the regions in one day or one region per day throughout the week. I
will show the class the PowerPoint I have made, and this can be an overview of the geographic regions. After
going over all the regions I will place the class in five groups, one for each region. Each group will select a
region, or one will be selected randomly for them by me. The group will produce their own PowerPoint on the
geographic region.
I will want the students to make a PowerPoint and also produce a recording on what they have done on the
PowerPoint. The recording will help all students practice their talking especially for English language learners
and students that are soft spoken. The students as a group will find information to add to their PowerPoint. I
want them to do at least four slides for the PowerPoint presentation. The categories will be where the region
is located, places in that regions, animals in the regions, and an interesting fact about the region. When the
students are finished with their presentation and recording, they will present what they have done to the
whole class. After everyone is finished, we will go over the regions again for a review. We will also review the
similarities and differences of the regions during this conclusion of the lesson. I will provide feedback by
giving them a grade for their presentation and what they did on the PowerPoint and during the presentation.
Reflective Practice: I feel that students will learn about the regions because they will see my PowerPoint and
it will be available to them whenever they want with the recording as well. The students can review this
whenever they desire. They will also have access to their peers’ PowerPoints. I think that by me wanting them
to do PowerPoints on the regions, I have already extended the lesson. They can also use iMovie to create a

video on their assigned geographic region. In the end, students will have created a final product by
PowerPoint.
