SELECTING PATIENT ESCORTS

Patient’s escort position become a big problem for city hospital Human resources team.

HR team starting to find a way for selecting and hiring a best applicant for patient’s escorts,

because administrative thinks that HR team was not successful in their way. Human resources

should change the way they are selecting applicant to have a better result. Human resource

should be more careful and start changing the recruiting process, and they have acting more

professional because their job is the last image of patients from the hospital.

Administrative cares a lot about this job and pay a good salary for this not in demand and

unskilled job. They expect their employee behave very polite with patients and don’t face with

complaint from patient because of escorts manner and attitude. Human resources try to handle

this situation as one of a big complaint issue for hospital.

The job of patient escort is critical to City Hospital, one of five major hospitals in a heart

of a large mid-western city, since the escorts are always the last hospital representative that the

patient sees. As such the escort has a considerable influence on the patient’s final perception of

the hospital. To cover the importance of this job, its better to hire the best and qualified person

for this job. Even though this job doesn’t need degree or college background and skills, still it is

really an undemanding job.

City Hospital has normal procedure when hiring patient’s escorts. The majority of the

applicants, for this job, come by word of mouth with a referral from members of the staff who

work for the hospital. All applicants are interviewed and if hired receive on the job training by
their immediate supervisor. All employees receive as part of their training a briefing on the

importance of the hospitals image and are told their jobs in keeping it.

The selection process should be revamped. For employment, when the hospitals oversee

recommendations, it is helpful not to utilize families as the lone recommendation. Even though

worker recommendations are excellent recruiting apparatuses to obtain a stable group of

candidates and are frequently regarded the valuable basis, maybe using worker recommendation

could be an inducement for hospital personnel to submit other excellent applicants if employees

are held more liable and acknowledged for their recommendation. Throughout the recruiting

procedure, the hospital must communicate a former manager who had an opportunity to monitor

the working of the applicant in comparable circumstances or ask for three professional

recommendations instead of a family or friend recommendations. Likewise, the occupation

categories, recruiters ought to include preferred traits for instance the character factors employers

are looking for such as friendly, politeness, etc., therefore that applicants have a respectable

impression of what the hospital is looking for and anticipations are transparent from the

beginning.
