Detailed Lesson Plan in Math 9: 1. To Illustrate Quadratic Equations

This lesson plan outlines a math lesson on quadratic functions for a 9th grade class. The objectives are for students to illustrate quadratic equations. The lesson will cover topics like quadratic models, zeros of functions, and graphical and tabular representations. It includes preliminary activities, motivation questions, a presentation on using math skills in real-world situations, and a discussion that maps out the quarter's topics. Students will take a pre-assessment on these skills and then the teacher will review the answers and assign a task defining completing the square and extracting square roots.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN in MATH 9

June 4, 2019

I. Objectives: At the end of the session, the students should be able:

1. To illustrate quadratic equations.
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic: QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS
B. Reference: Grade 9 Learning Module- MATHEMATICS
C. Material: Book, Chalkboard
A. Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities

Good morning class! Good morning Mrs. Sales.

Arrange your chairs and pick up scattered things around
you. (The students followed the teachers command.”

B. Motivation
Focus Questions:
1. Have you ever thought of how a businessman
projects his or her sales?
2. When does a businessman know how much he or
she should produce to maximize his or her profits?
3. When does he or she needs to stop production?
4. How can he or she determine the break even point. (Answers may vary.)
C. Presentation
In this session, you will discover how important it is to
utilize essential mathematical skills to be able to
understand questions that arise in various real-life
situations that we encounter everyday. Yes, Ma’am.

D. Discussion
Here is a simple map of the lessons we will be covering
for the whole quarter.

Quadratic Functions

Models Zeroes of the Function

Graphical Quadratic Equations

Tabular
Equation Solving Discriminant Relation (Students copied the map in their lecture
of Roots notebooks.)
Now, answer the pre-assessment that I will be distributing
to each one of you.
To do well in this assessment, you need to remember and
do the following:
1. follow the directions carefully.
2. master the prerequisite skills such as factoring,
graphing and solving linear equations.
3. solve with speed and accuracy. (Students started answering.)

E. Generalization
What can you say on the pre-assessment you have
answered? Ma’am it is quite hard at the beginning but by
abiding with the steps you have given a while
ago, it became easier for us to understand each
It was nice to hear that. Keep it up! problem.

III. Evaluation
Let’s check your answers.
(The teacher dictated the answers as the students checked
their classmate’s test papers.)
IV. Assignment
Define what is completing the square method and
extracting the square root.
