Project Synopsis MP II

The project aims to build graphical models of architecture using SketchUp and project them into the real world using augmented reality with Unity. Users will then be able to visualize and interact with the virtual models using virtual reality and an Android application. The project combines augmented reality, which overlays virtual objects, and virtual reality, which immerses users in virtual environments. This will allow users to accurately analyze architectural designs by experiencing virtual structures. The project will create 3D graphics models and develop applications using software like Unity, SketchUp, and programming languages like Java and C#.

Project Title: Virtual Structures.

Sponsorship: NA
External Guide: NA

Internal Guide: Prof.M.V.Pawar

Synopsis:
▪ Problem Statement:
The problem statement of our project is basically divided into two parts:
1) To build up a graphical model of an architecture and projecting it on a
real world using ‘Augmented Reality’ concept.
2) To visualize or interact with the virtual model using ‘Virtual Reality’
concept and then deploy it in Android, IOS, PS-VR and Xbox.

In our project , we are going to implement the mixed reality concept in

order to build or analyze a perfect or we can say an accurate
architectural (monuments, statues etc) model. Mixed reality concept
includes the use of both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality working
hand in hand with each other i.e it can be stated that Augmented
Reality + Virtual Reality = Mixed Reality.

1
Here in this project at first we would build a graphical model of any
architecture using ‘Sketch up’ software and then projecting the same
created model in the real world with the help of AR using a software
‘Unity’.
After projection of the model we will visualize the whole structure and
design of the architectural model in a very interactive way(as if we are
present there in reality) using VR set. Finally these whole procedure
could be implemented in mobiles as we would use Java programming
language to make an android app for the respective work. Similarly c#
and swift for IOS devices.

▪ Introduction:
Nowadays everything has become more advanced and effective in its
performance and working. The world is totally intended to move forward
in the field of digitalization and technology with much greater pace and
interest. People nowadays are more reliable on the digital or virtual world
as compared to the normal man-made real world. Our project here also
make use of such kind of technology where we will be using mixed reality
which not just overlays but also anchors virtual objects to the real world
and allows the user to interact with the virtual objects.
Basically ‘Mixed Reality’ is referred to as hybrid reality which is basically
the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and
visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in
real time. On the other hand this project would be a combination of :
1 Virtual Reality: It immerses users in a fully artificial digital environment.
2 Augmented Reality: It overlays virtual objects on the real world
environment.
The system developed by us will not only project the virtual model into
the real world but will also provide a fair chance to experience the proper
structure of the model while staying in a place only by just interacting
with it. This would help to get a proper analysis of the architectural
design by physically visualizing the surroundings around us in the
premises of that model. The whole system is then tried to be operated in
a very convenient way by using an android app which has been nowadays
a very handy tool to get access to almost everything in our digital world.
The game of real and virtual world would always prove to be a fascinating
and also a topic of mystery until we make use of mixed reality in a
effective way whose glimpse will be shown by us through this project.

▪ Proposed System:

2
Our system will come up with the effective use of the augmented and the
virtual reality. Here we are basically trying to ease the workload of the
architects and the designers so that they could perform their work in such
a way that they could build a particular model meeting the proper need
and requirements .
As we know mostly ,before implementing an architectural process a
blueprint of the actual structure is made on a paper in order to get a
rough idea of the orientation and design of the building or any
architecture. The diagram may not be so reliable for gaining the accurate
idea of what we are going to make. On the other hand by using our
system one could experience or actually visualize the whole orientation
of the model which could help them to get the accurate idea of how the
design would appear by just using the android app.

▪ H/w and S/w Resources:

Software used: Unity, Sketchup, Android Studio, Xcode, Microsoft visual
studio.
Hardware used: VR set and a mobile phone that supports Google
daydream.
Conclusion  :  Our   project   ‘Mixed   Reality’   would   try   to   be   a   great
approach towards the road of AR and VR in a greater depth. Usage of
graphics has also been extensively approached here to help us visualize
the actual sceneries. Ultimately at the end of this project we would be able
to make 3D graphics model in an effective way. As we know there are
many applications of these concept, so the usage of one of the aspects
related to it would be of great help to the society and to the mankind if
used in a correct way, running life would surely come at ease. We would
also be able to develop an application  which would be of great use.  . The
game of real and virtual world would always prove to be a fascinating and
also a topic of mystery until we make use of mixed reality in a effective
way whose glimpse will be shown by us through this project.
