DESIGN BASIS REPORT

Introduction: -

Design of Pedestrian bow truss bridge of 85m span over Chandra-bagha river at Rishikesh,
Uttarakhand. Having a height of 8.5m at the centre with cross girder and vertical of 2.5m spacing
with 2.4m carriageway width for pedestrian movement. The steel deck has been designed for
pedestal loading of 8mm thickness.

Load Consideration: -

1. Dead load : Dead load of the Super structure has been considered as per the weight of the
proposed cross sections, Railing ,Crash barrier except surfacing load

2. SIDL : Super Imposed dead load shall be the load due to Crash barrier

3: Live load : Pedestrian loading considered as live load confirming to IRC6:2017 and
IRC24:2010

5. Wind load: Wind force calculations have been done as per IRC6:2017 and IS875 Part-3 2015

6. Seismic load: Seismic forces have been calculated as per IRC6:2017

Load Combination

Load combination of all the primary loads have been considered for analysis as mentioned in
the IRC 6:2017.

Design Methodology: -

The structure has been analysed as a 2D- structure in STAAD program, With the Uniform loading due
to dead load, live load etc. mentioned in the design report page no. – 3.

Seismic parameter also mentioned in page no. – 3.

Wind load analysis: -

Wind pressure and forces has been calculated as per IRC6:2017 as mentioned in Page no.-4, Which is
applied in the staad model (sway bracing).
Design of Cross girder: -

The cross girder has been designed as a simply supported beam for pedestrian loading as calculated
in page no. – 5.

Design for Live load: -

The live load has been taken of 6kN/m^2 in the design for pedestrian loading.

Design of member: -

The member has been checked for tension, Compression and Combined forces as designed in Page
no 10 to 12.
