Dengue Awareness Campaign: Sta Cruz High School

Dengue is the fastest spreading vector-borne disease in the world endemic in 100
countries. Dengue virus is transmitted by day biting Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus
mosquitoes. Dengue has no treatment, but the disease can be early managed. Dengue can be
prevented too.
The Department of Health launch the National Dengue Prevention and Control
Program. The said program has a vision of a Dengue Free Philippines, mission of Ensuring
healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, goal of reducing the burden of dengue
disease and has an objective of reducing dengue morbidity by at least 25% by 2022
The Department of Education supports the said program of the DOH. As an institution
under the DepEd, the class advisers of Sta Cruz High School was instructed to conduct Dengue
Awareness Campaign during the Homeroom Guidance time.
Last July 15, 2019 the Dengue Awareness Campaign was conducted by Mrs. Daiseree
DR. Salvador it was held at the Grade 10-Andres Bonifacio room during the Homeroom
Guidance at 10:30- 11:30 in the morning.
The second part of the campaign is a film showing about Dengue. After the film
showing the teacher was an open forum about dengue and way on how to prevent dengue.
Lastly, the students was instructed to use insect repellant lotion and always maintain cleanliness
inside and out of the classroom.
