Turbidity:
Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by suspended solids that are usually
invisible to the naked eye. The measurement of Turbidity is an important test when trying to
determine the quality of water.

Measurement Method:
Turbidity can be measured using either an electronic turbidity meter or a turbidity tube. We
measure turbidity using the turbidity meter which one is called Nephelometer or Turbidimeter.
First of all, our researcher collects different samples from different sources and gather those
samples to the Environmental Science Labs. All samples bottles were cleaned and washed with
turbidity free water. All collected sample was sufficient to ensure a representative sample and
minimize waste disposal. No chemical preservation was mixed. Even the researcher was aware of
the room temperature before analysis as it may affect the samples which one is prescribed by or
researcher.
After that procedure the researcher mix the sample to thoroughly disperse the solids. Wait until air
bubbles disappear then pour the sample into the turbidimeter tube. Then he read the turbidity
directly from the instrument scale or from the appropriate calibration curve.
Finding:
At this test we find that Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) hold most turbidity then others which one
is 14.15 NTU and the second one is North South University Tap water which one is 2.48 NTU.
Among all of the samples the least one is Distil water which one was collected from our laboratory
that hold .24 NTU which one is comparatively very from others. Among them distil water was
purified that’s why it holds less than other samples and STP water was wasted water that’s why it
As high turbidity in drinking water could gastrointestinal diseases including contaminants like
viruses and pathogenic bacteria can attach themselves to the suspended solids. These solids then
interfere with disinfection. But it greatly affects the aquatic life as it reduces the amount of light
reaching lower depths in bodies of water, which inhibits growth of some forms of aquatic plants
and can negatively affect species that are dependent on them, like fish. High turbidity levels will
pH of less than 7 indicate acidity, whereas a pH of greater than 7 indicates a base. pH is really a
measure of the relative amount of free hydrogen and hydroxyl ions in the water. Water that has
more free hydrogen ions is acidic, whereas water that has more free hydroxyl ions is basic.

Measurement Method:
First of all, our researcher takes all samples one by one that going to be tested. Then the water
sample is placed in the beaker and the beaker probe at the end of the coverable arm is placed in
the water. Inside the thin beaker bulb at the end of the probe there are two electrodes that measure
voltage. One electrode is contained in a liquid that has a fixed acidity, or pH. The other electrode
responds to the acidity of the water sample. The voltmeter in the probe measures the difference
between the voltages of the two electrodes. The meter then translates the voltage difference into
pH and displays it on the little screen on the main box. After that we write down all pH values
At this section we find that almost every samples result is almost same not vary so much. All are
fall under acidic water as all values less than 7. Where STP water has highest pH that is 6.57 and
the lowest one is 5.7 that was the Distil water. On the other hand, NSU Tap water has 6.41 and
NSU filter water has 6.07. There is a balance among all the samples which one is good.
Since excessively high and low pH can be harmful for the use of water. Because of high pH causes
a bitter taste, water pipes and water-using appliances become enveloped with deposits and low-pH
water will decompose or dissolve heavy metals like (lead, copper, cadmium, etc.) and other
The dissolved oxygen (DO) is oxygen that is dissolved in water. The oxygen dissolves by diffusion
from the surrounding air, aeration of water that has dropped over falls and rapids and as a waste
product of photosynthesis.

Measurement Method:
At first the laboratorial take 500ml of water in a D.O bottle or beaker. After that Plug the bottle
and shake it well. Which one is known as water saturation to increase the oxygen amount in the
samples . When the shaken is stopped after that keep the bottle for 5 min and pertains are dissolved
and was careful about that the topper the bottle to be sure no air is introduced. Mix the sample by
inverting several times and check for air bubbles; discard the sample and start over if any are seen.
After a while using the DO meter measure the Dissolve Oxygen at the water. Here we were aware
about the reduction of oxygen level at the sample as it varies with the time and aeration.
Finding:
At this test the amount of dissolved oxygen in all samples of water is found to be in distil water
7.29 ppm and in NSU filter water got the highest one that is 8.26 ppm. On the other hand, other
samples are found to be 7.87 ppm in NSU Tap water and 2.3ppm in STP water. That means among
all of that samples the NSU tap water and the NSU filter water would be better for aquatic lives
Because the survival of aquatic life depends on a sufficient level of oxygen dissolved in water.
When it drops below levels necessary for sustaining aquatic life, it becomes a significant water
quality impairment.
