AND TASK-BASED INSTRUCTION
These two
methodologies can be
described as extension
of the CLT movement
but which take different
routes to achieve the
goal of communicative
language teaching.
CONTENT-BASED INSTRUCTION
Communication is seen as the result from processes
such as:
In the case of tasks involving two or more leaners, it calls upon the
learners´ use of communication strategies and interactional skills.
Pedagogical tasks
- Interactional strategies
- Require the use of specific types of language
(skills, grammar, vocabulary).
Real-world task
-Reflect real world uses of language and which
might be considered a rehearsal for real world
tasks.
For example: A role-Play in which students
practices a job interview would be a task of this
kind.

Practice: Students practice using the new structure in a controlled text, through
drills or substitution exercises.
Production: Students practice using the new structure in different contexts often
using their own content or information, in order to develop fluency with the new
patten.

Pre task Activities
• Teacher helps Ss´ to formulate what they what to say, but will not
intervene to correct errors of any form.

Analysis: Students examine and discuss specific features of the text or transcript of the recording.

Practice: Teacher conducts practice or new words, phrases and patterns
